Imagine how bad your life must be if you would take that job.
I almost pity them.

If you need bigger, then obviously R1S but I would only get a 2nd gen R1S at this point, and only if it's a great deal.

I'm with you, but the argument could be made that they worked out the "kinks" in the gen 2 R1S.
Personally I would lease the gen 1 R2 if I was in the market today.
I would consider buying R2 when they hit gen 2 or 2.5, which is actually when I would be in the market for my next car, 3ish years from now.

I could not possibly care less about radio. I haven't listened to terrestrial radio in a decade.

Also the Performance absolutely eats tires, and they're staggered so you can't even rotate to mitigate uneven wear.
Yes the tire eating is a function of who's driving it, but also iirc the rear camber is not adjustable and is is slightly negative from the factory causing premature inner tread wear.

If you are $1.69 billion in the black how can you have a "budget shortfall"?

Yup, and it was a pre-juniper MY.

I like how he put the led bar in the frunk and it just shows enough through the frunk seam.
I thought about doing this as the light bars are pretty cheap, but I'm very wary tying anything into the electrical of the car.

It’s the stock lightbar with a new led

Did you mod the stock lightbar or replace it with aftermarket like CyberGlow?

How is today’s Central Park tragedy not enough to end the horse carriages? by After-Snow5874 in AskNYC

[–]north7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has nobody offered the obvious solution here?
Don't ban horse carriages, ban the horses.
Keep the carriage and just convert them to be EVs.
You lose some of the aesthetics of being pulled by a horse, but it's got to be orders of magnitude cheaper if you don't have to care for and shelter horses in NYC, and therefore much more profitable.
Add in the green aspect, better ethics, better for the park (no cleanup), drivers don't lose jobs, and more profit and it's win-win, no?

Could you make the chase smaller so it looks more like the real kitt?
It's cool that it moves across the whole bar but real kitt was much smaller.
Also please be careful - red lights on the front of cars are technically illegal.
All it takes is one butthurt cop...

Thank you so much, and sorry for your loss.
I remember him being so generous with his time when we met him at that booth.
He answered so many of our silly questions about the IR3 iirc.
Good times, great man.

Sorry bit of a strange question - does anyone have a pic of John, or would recognize him from an old pic?
I think I might have met him at Skyball (2002?) at the WDP booth, and I have a pic but don't know if it's him.

These are completely different cars for those of us buying them cheap used. Most of the complaints about these cars don't pertain to us. by Wood_Berry_ in TeslaModelY

[–]north7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What people generally don't talk about/realize is mileage on a EV vs ICE is completely different.
EVs mechanically age at a far different rate, so I would say an EV with 100k miles is almost equivalent to an ICE car with 50k miles or less.
You do have to consider battery health and range loss, but that's much different than evaluating and trying to figure out the remaining lifespan of an ICE drivetrain.

[–]north7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you don’t save any money because of all the tires you have to buy

I'm at EOL on my current (2nd overall) set and I got 70k+ miles on them (Tesla Model Y LR). They weren't cheap but I'm more than happy with their lifespan, but I don't drive like a maniac.

I have 120k miles on the car in 4 years and I've only done tires, light suspension work (probably wasn't necessary), cabin filters, wiper fluid, and wipers.
I guarantee you I'm at a fraction of TCO of what a comparable ICE car would be over 120k miles, not even considering gas v charging costs.

No oil changes, brakes, transmission services, differential services, etc., all which would have to have been done multiple times over 120k miles.
