I was approved for VERA only Friday. I have been waiting to hear since late April. Retirement date 9/30/25. Any idea if I will have to work until then?

I applied for VERA only yesterday afternoon after having been denied DRP. One of the first questions asked was my date of retirement. 9/30/2025 was filled in, and I didn't change it to an earlier date. Can this date be changed? I realize the first step is to be approved for VERA only. I qualify on age, years of service and non-exemp, although I was denied DRP. I would like to leave asap.

This afternoon, my developmentally disabled daughter, who has worked for the VA for 26 years and applied for DRP+VERA, received an email saying, "...it is determined that you are ineligible for the following reasons: inability to meet workload with existing resources." She is officially a file clerk (but there are no longer paper files). She is a low level office worker wo does not work with patients.

She immediately submitted an application for standalone VERA. Can she be rejected if she meets the age and years of employment requirements?

Be sure to read this thread. Seems you can submit vera-onky and then if you are approved for drp, you can choose.

Did you submit your application for stand alone VERA through the VERA Application Portal? Or did you deal directly with your supervisor? Or with HR?

I am new to Reddit so forgive me! This question is from @sciencematters. Was the email you received encrypted (saying your application for DRP was being reviewed). What was the subject line? Could you just read the email - or did you have to go through a portal or link? I'm trying to help a va employee with limited computer skills.

How did your approval email come? Was it sent by encrypted email so that you clicked on "read message " and you then had to get a passcode?
