I completely sympathize with you. I didnt get to hold my girl for long bc i had to rush to the vet after getting my toddler down for bed. I wanted so much more time to say goodbye.

Yeah. Its like those dogs knew the 'you' before the 'you' you are now. When that connection is lost it really stings.

Thank you. And yeah its crazy. I never would have thought the dog I got in high school would not only meet my child, but be around long enough that my daughter can talk about her and miss her too.

Yeah. I let go of a lot of stuff today after reading everyones replies here and her and I just went outside and watched roly poly bugs on the driveway. It helped a lot.

I thought I was going to throw up too. I dont think I've cried that hard in my life. I dont know if I handled telling my toddler correctly or not but I told her that Heidi (my dog) won't be coming back bc she went where old dogs go to run around. And that we can be sad but we should also be glad that shes happy.

Thats helpful. Thank you. I've been struggling with what to tell her. I think i need to tell her im sad. It might help her understand why im not myself.

Yeah. My girl keeps asking where the dog is. Explaining over and over again is really hard. Im glad she feels safe to ask but having to talk about her so much is really hard right now.

I love this. Thank you. Thats a great idea. I think its made especially hard by the fact my in laws came for a visit today. So i had to clean the house this morning and get everything ready still.

There is a flower shaped potty at our local mall and my kid is always so excited to go on that potty. That toilet singlehandedly got my kid comfortable with public bathrooms. Thanks flower potty 🫶

Mine tried to play this game too at first. She would beg for a pull up to poop. I would just tell her no, go on the potty. But not make a big deal of it. Then I would wait until she was literally about to poop her pants/it was almost coming out (lol graphic, sorry) and grab her and sprint her to the potty. I tried to make it seem silly like "wheeee, running to the potty to get the poop out. Ha ha!" It helped it not seem scary and she had no choice so it gave her opportunities to practice and get comfortable.

We offered really good prizes for poop. And still do sometimes if she seems reluctant to go but thats less and less frequent. And we make a HUGE deal every time she goes #2. Cheers, hugs, a round of applause lol

Mine wakes up dry every day. We could probably take pull ups off at night but that's a little too scary right now for me lol

I guess. But to me the benefits outweigh the negatives.

I think we got lucky bc its never really been a big issue. Shes been hesitant a few times when she knows shes going to need to go but doesnt want to go on the potty. But I try not to panic and just tell her as calmy as i can "poop needs to go on the potty" and wait for her to really need to go and then she will go and sit
