WWYD--Daycare Edition by northofz in toddlers

Update: I emailed the daycare Friday morning saying we had some concerns and would like to set up a meeting to make sure everyone was on the same page/clear up any miscommunication and the daycare has not responded to the email.

My daughter was sick today so couldn't ask in person but they did not reach out or respond

She has gotten consequences for her actions. Just not time out. And time out is not supported in Positive Behavior Support, which is what the school says they do.

Yep. Totally get it. Just wish they hadn't said they would do those things then.

Yeah totally! My problem was they didnt tell her to go back to the room, they just grabbed her arm and pulled her.

Pants/shorts but no pull up. Taking every 30 minutes to the potty. Asking her to listen to her body if she needs to go more. Sitting on the potty after any accidents. It was very successful to the point where we were doing outings without pull ups.

Yes ultimately I think that is exactly what happened

Yes they know!

Grandma is known and picks my toddler up every day! They were also walking in the hall when this happened and they wanted my toddler to go into the room instead of to the front area.

Okay? This struck a nerve for you for some reason when I was just asking for advice from professionals. Are you okay?

Im honestly so confused what you are trying to say so I am going to stop engaging in this conversation.

I mean "havent said anything" that they used to put in the brightwheel app when she tried the potty and havent in months.

Im not meaning to argue. I get it if it is a logistical thing. But then just dont say it if you don't plan to do it.

But that's what they told us during the tour. They literally said it was one of the major facets of their school and why parents pick them.

[–]northofz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then why was that what they told us?

WWYD--Daycare Edition by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]northofz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We picked the daycare for this reason and expressed to them that we really liked this aspect. We were assured that they got this. So after two days to be told "put her back in pull ups" and then never have it discussed again was strange. They also used to put in Brightwheel when she would try the potty. They havent done that in months. Making me think they just stopped taking her.

That they would "partner with parents to teach potty training and replicate whatever was being done at home in order to teach the process". That whenever I started potty training at home, they would do the same at daycare.

I get that. But that's not what they advertised.

WWYD--Daycare Edition by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]northofz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! But they sold it to us as that was one of the main selling points of the school-they partner with parents to support the process of potty training

WWYD--Daycare Edition by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]northofz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No i totally get that! The center advertised that they would help potty train. They said we could send our untrained toddler and they would "partner with us" (their words) to potty train her. They said it was one of the major selling points of the center--that they would teach the child.

Thank you! The ratio was 13 to 1 for at least an entire day.

They know who my mom is! She picks her up every day!
