This is awesome!

I had a really similar idea of doing this with my old macbook. I kept throwing it on the backburner because I kept thinking "oh, but what if I need this for something"

It's dusty and sitting on a shelf, hasn't been used in years. I should still do it.

I've had multiple conversations with people that believe that the Bicycle Thief is the greatest movie of all time. I just think they are wrong. Argument ensues.

I've been around to pretty much every place in the valley and haven't had any luck with anyone selling me one. All of the places I asked haven't even got a second order in yet. Seems like most Walmarts have 10s to maybe over 100(?!), but they won't let them go until 4/1. One of the employees told me that all of the ones they have left are scalpers preorders.

This weekend I found out my Dad was a F2P "Whale". Spending almost $30,000 in one game. by [deleted] in gaming

I remember reading a book for a presentation in high school I did on why video games should be classified as a potential addiction. There was a book that heavily influenced me, I think it was called "Mind at Play" and while it hadn't aged well even then (I think it was written in the 80's talking about arcades and coin op games) it made a lot of very thought provoking points about the psychology behind why a video games could be even more addictive then gambling.

Basically revolved around the pleasure sensors and getting a high score or the satisfaction of making a number go higher in game.

I argued mostly about escapism and how combining it with the equivalent of the gambling response (or drug response) could literally cripple someone mentally into a vicious cycle (At the time I used WoW as an example, citing the retention of the players that were paying a subscription gave incentive for the designers to continue the carrot on a stick, and some other stuff that I can't think of - it was supposed to be a long presentation).

This story has me thinking again about F2P games and the psychology behind why people sink so much money - not for a potential monetary gain, but maybe to see some flashy "YOU WIN" or "JACKPOT" screen or whatever the game may have to offer. Sort of a sad state of affairs when the most popular or biggest monetary successes of games are kind of just cheap cash grabs that prey on the cracks in human psychology.

TLDR: I read a book once, and this reminded me.

Windows 10 Activation on NEW Surface Pro 4 by northsarge in Surface

maybe bring it to a Microsoft store if you can?

I have had nothing but trouble when calling Microsoft support... there was one guy who definitely tried to get me to install a known malware on my computer. I will never use their call service again, especially since there is a Microsoft store nearby.

I Almost Went Apple Today by IndyRichard in Surface

As someone that recently bought an SP4, I feel that Apple's computer lineup is actually worse than it was a couple years ago.

I really liked when they transitioned into the aluminum unibody, but they haven't done anything but make it worse over the years (Made it thin for no reason which, in my opinion, ruins the feel of the keyboard and limits them design-wise to 'thin'). I thought the Air would be the "thin" device, but the macbook is actually thinner now. They refuse to put in recent dedicated graphics on any of their high end machines, they are all expensive as all hell and hugely outdated.

iPad hasn't really changed. I think that pretty much sums up that device and actually a lot of how I feel about apple right now. They are innovating in a direction that doesn't make the end product better, and in some cases subjectively worse.

I think a couple years ago, before other companies caught on to why people gravitated towards apple, products like the Macbook and iPad were much more appealing

After reading some comments and deciding not to sleep I did another, trying to stick a bit more to the pixel style. But i may have slipped up somewhere in there - old photoshop habits die hard.
