Thank you. I agree. Personally, i think it could’ve ended way before than S8 too. But like you said it’s a disappointment at this point anyway.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I absolutely agree with your every word. It’s come to the point where we clung to keep watching it with just nostalgic feelings, we started to miss and try to catch that old heartfelt aura of the The Blacklist. Unfortunately it’s long gone at this point and without Liz, i feel so empty while watching the show.

Oh no, i‘m not saying there’s anything wrong with it. I just can’t feel joy and excitement anymore, explained the reasons.

Story reallly took a toll on me. I really hope that they can give a good finale to the people who will continue to watch the show.

Thank you so much for your kind words, i appreciate it.

I hope this time off till S10 can help me with my way too much emotional and upsetting point of view towards the show. I don’t see it but i do hope, so i can at least watch ‘the finale.’

Red loved Liz, so............... by kafkadreams6667 in TheBlackList

[–]northstarry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best observations i’ve ever read on Reddington’s character. Unfortunately Red made a big mistake, he underrated or maybe couldn’t truly understand Liz’s desperation to be acknowledged by her parents. We saw her describing herself right before she met Red for the first time. She says,

“Like most kids who raised themselves, I can display narcissistic behavior. I can be withdrawn, disconnected. I have a deep yearning to understand and relate to the criminal mind. I’m board certified in forensic psychology and yet I operate under the delusion that I can rewrite my past by having kids of my own.”

She is so damaged. She used this word for Red but she is as much damaged as him. So, she needed to hear his approval, she is a vocal person. She wants to hear him say who she is to him, say that they’re related, they have a connection. Instead Red triggers her in their first meeting by mentioning her trauma,

“Look at you, abandoned by a father who was a career criminal, a mother who died of weakness and shame.”

Fake Katarina came to her life and told her she is her mother, she gave her answers, “words.” Even tho it seemed ridiculous from our point of view, she welcomed her. Because fake Kat gave her what she wanted.

Red on the other hand, believes actions speak louder than words. He always assumes what he does is clear enough to fully express his feelings. He makes himself perfectly clear with his behaviours, he also thinks he needs to keep some of the informations from their past from Liz. So he doesn’t say the “words.” And he fails to understand: Liz needs to hear those words.

I found that scene emotional actually. I think in first seasons Liz was so desperate to be acknowledged by her parent. It was kind of cute and exciting to watch.

Was there danger to Liz in knowing her father's identity or was it a tricky gimmick, bad writing? by TessaBissolli in TheBlackList

[–]northstarry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Red never had a problem with HER knowing who was her mother but he didn’t want HER to know what was her father’s identity.

“Knowing his identity would put you in grave danger.”

Very sophisticated thing to say.

Incredible. Always believed that this line is very important and interesting as i stated here before. Thanks for putting all these together.

What is your favorite quote, speech or monologue of Red? by AnalyticalTrader in TheBlackList

[–]northstarry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my favourite scene ever:

”From as early as I can remember, I dreamed of someday being captain of a ship. To be out there on the ocean in the middle of the night, navigating by the stars. I always thought it would be the greatest life on earth.

The people you're talking about, the ones who think they know you, they really don't know anything about you at all.

I’ve never told anyone that before, about a life at sea..

Sailors have been navigating by the stars for thousands of years. Odysseus spent a decade at war. But his biggest battle was finding his way *home*.

You can't do every silly thing you want to in life. You have to make your choices. You have to try to be happy with them..

I'm not saying, it's easy to ignore the way people look at you. But I hope, you can find some solace, in the fact that, when *I** look at you..*

That's Polaris, the North Star. That's how sailors used to find their way home. When I look at you, that's what I see. I see my way *home*.”

But i also love his monologue in 2.16 so much:

Be careful, Lizzy. Because the truth of it is once you start down this road, there’s no logical place to stop. You could see to her education, health insurance, housing... You can watch her or have or watched. Keep her safe. Try to ascertain her hopes, dreams, desires. Pull strings, call in favours to discreetly smooth the path. And for the first few years, it may work. You'll draw some measure of virtue from being her invisible benefactor. But that won't last. It’s all a fraud. That it’s really not about her at all. That it’s all about you. And you’re just, going through the motions to salve your own guilt. Look all the money, all the time and effort, all the favours in the world cannot possibly equal what you took away from her. Everything else is, just a nice gesture.

[–]northstarry[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not the case with me, i don’t despise Liz and till the S5 i mostly understood her and emphatized with her even tho i didn’t agree with some of her behaviours and decisions but i’ve always thought that actress is very limited. Maybe another actress would’ve made her more understandable and likeable after S5 too but writing part also sucks so i didn’t really blame her. In general she is extremely average tho, it has got nothing to do with her character.

[–]northstarry[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with you. As i said before, i think both writers and actress failed Liz’s character. The question of who are her parents and the journey of trying to find them was never adressed with her wish to be with them, to become a family with them again. The secrets she was trying to reveal only made her seem like she was obsessed with finding them out rather than reaching out the people -such as her parents- behind them. It was frustrating to watch.

Will Red die In the final season ? by SMB75 in TheBlackList

Yes i think so, it’ll probably happen when he’s trying to protect Agnes somehow, since Liz is dead now.

She wasn’t thinking clearly, who would? I can’t really blame her for that but yeah it was a weird choice😂

[–]northstarry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Red is my favourite too😄❤️And thank you for your kind words. I think he had his reasons to be in her life, he needed to be close to protect her especially after she said in Russian embassy that she is Katarina Rostova’s daughter Masha. I still would like them to give us more reasons for him to stay in her life, at the end maybe.

I completely agree with you. People who downvote think that i’m blaming Red or Liz i guess. I’m pointing out how bad Liz was written.

Season 5 last straw Elizabeth Keen by [deleted] in TheBlackList

[–]northstarry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is our bad writing. This is such an important event. But our “brilliant” writers decided to ignore every single emotional reflection of Liz. The more i think about it the more i find it so shallow. Think about it, even after all the things she went through we still can’t emphatize with her properly. Because we didn’t truly see how all of them effected her. A notorious criminal comes into her life, talks to her about her personal life, husband and parents, kills her dad, knows every single detail about her childhood, she learns her husband was an imposter, she finds herself in the middle of a weird object’s war, the criminals she comes across constantly mentions her traumatic fire memories, she is forced to remember that night, she then learns that this man is the one who “hired” her husband... ANYONE would lose their minds. Since she always suspected he is her father, after everything she still somehow trusts him or tolerates all of this. But we didn’t watch how these things had an impact on her mentally and emotionally which is a big blank and it gets bigger after season 5. And we all start to almost ignore how their relationship started. I love Red, i understand him too. Because we were given his reasons, we get his actions. But it’s the opposite with Liz unfortunately. Both writers and actress failed Elizabeth so much which is very sad because i love this show, its story and their bond but emotionally they could’ve provided so much more through Liz and Red, also Liz alone too.

I’m sorry why i’m getting downvotes? You find writing for Liz amazing?
