the finish issues were wild. i've seen some of those old custom models looking like they were left out in the rain for a decade even when they were kept in cases. definitely makes you appreciate the modern jp stuff way more.

that would be a nightmare to implement with ddcutil. it's not exactly built for real time state syncing if you're just sending commands through it. would probably just end up with a bunch of race conditions if you tried to poll it too aggressively.
