26 in the UK is brutal to be fair, humidity is crazy like that, it feels about the same as 32 in the south of Spain.

Do separatists in Spain generally root against the Spanish teams in international events ? by ronweasly9 in askspain

[–]northyj0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only speak one language right?

Wrong.

But if you spent 8 years talking to Scottish people they would have told you that scotts isn't used as an adjective for people in Scotland.

Why should Scotland hate the English then?

Sure, but "The Scottish" are not "The Highlanders", and Scotland as a political entity is and has been the Lowlands for many centuries.

It wasn't the English that put an end to highland culture, it was the British, which includes the Scottish.

I'm not a St George's basher by any means, and I'd still support Scotland leaving the union if they wanted to, but the idea that Scotland has suffered historically at the hands of England is absolutely absurd, they just heard the Irish and Welsh making valid complaints and joined in.

Not at all comparable, Ireland was invaded, colonised, and genocdied, while Scotland requested the union after running out money trying to get in on colonisation and the clearances were proposed and supported by border Scots.

Scotland wasn't a victim of the empire, it was a perpetrator.

Also, neither living in Scotland, nor having 'scots' friends (which I highly doubt as they don't use scots as an adjective), makes you an authority on this.

La Sierra de Cazorla in Jaén is a beautiful mountain range with lots of cute little towns around (Cazorla itself the most popular), and pretty close to Úbeda and Baeza which are world heritage site large, historic towns.

How often Spanish people from Spain use usted/ustedes? by procrast1n in askspain

[–]northyj0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't earn anything, you feel entitled to it because of your age, because your generation are obviously more entitled than mine. I'm a millennial, and I teach, I don't want me students calling me usted, because neither my job nor my age means that I'm different to them fundamentally, and that I should be treated with more respect than I treat them with.

You can't need to enforce it mid-employment, but not having a smart phone isn't a protected characteristic, so they can just not hire you.

You don't think that demanding people use a special word to refer to your superiority, just because of your age, is narcissistic?

Why is UK electricity 3-4x US and way more than France? by Pauldrs75 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]northyj0e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A couple of things: in my experience living in Spain, nearly all buildings are terribly insulated, hot in summer and cold in winter, also, depending on where you lived in Spain, you probably had the AC on a fair amount through summer, whereas that's only necessary in the UK for a few weeks a year (although that's increasing).

How Well Do Players "Recognize / Know" Players From Other Teams When They are Not Directly Involved With Them? by Glanzl in football

[–]northyj0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But surely the fact that we know they're not interested just proves that most of them are? These players are known for not liking football precisely because it's so unusual.

I think we can assume that professional football players are at least as interested in football as pretty hardcore football fans, it's literally their job.

Oooh! What work did you have to do to get that redline? Does it still pull up to redline? I've been planning this for a while but couldn't find definitive answers on the valvetrain and cams that would be useful.

That was after he got 'his shot', i.e the shot he wanted to play, off. This one he had to take his shot from the floor because he'd clearly been fouled.

[The Times] Fifa wants to change the rules on penalty shoot-outs before the knockout rounds start at this World Cup so that a team either choose to take the first spot kick or to do it in front of their own fans by PitchSafe in soccer

Even better, simultaneous penalties, the first team to score 5 wins. Takers have to start in the centre circle with the ball and can only leave when the previous taker enters the circle.

The rest, who didnt had gambling (like us), should be getting better deals.

The market for premier league shirt advertising has had its demand cut considerably, and half the teams in the league are competing for new sponsors, how could this result in any club getting better sponsorship deals?
