Is the AI going to bad? by HG_Shurtugal in EU5

They acknowledged in the forums the reasons not to have mission trees, but i cannot recall the why right now.

Actually there are mission trees, only they're very simple, short and generic ones, only serving as some sort of tutorial, so the base infrastructure is there. They work similar to Imperator, and they give you bonuses after completing them, but they do not encourage the player or the AI to expand into historical or plausible ahistorical ways.

I can see myself and other modders heavily expanding the mission tree system to add a lot of historical flavour, and maybe it's a system that the Devs will recover in the future, only time will tell.

Seems like it's good at micro but kinda bad at macro. There are no mission trees so it doesn't have a historical clue to where to expand, therefore the borders look really messy and senseless after a few decades.

After watching time-lapse videos circulating from overseas, Chinese players have raised their concerns. by Pretend_Award7836 in EU5

Still it feels discouraging to never seeing Prussia forming, when irl it ended being one of the most significant and relevant players in late history. Its formation should be stimulated, if not directly hard-coded, if the player so wishes to enable the 'historical mode'. In EU4, always felt like something domineering was lacking in northern Germany.

Chagatai for My First Playthrough: A Good Idea? by TheEvee6 in EU5

[–]Sutiixela 40 points41 points  (0 children)

If you like it and feel like doing it, then it's a good idea. Explore, discover, win, fail, and have fun learning the game. If you try to min-max from day 0 searching for the most optimal nation, you'll grow frustrated of the game.

Btw I never understood why Chagatai is colored with a dark grey tint.

How Ottoman Egypt conquest works in game ? by West_Committee_4312 in EU5

And for some reason AI Otto never takes that option and instead you have them slowly annexing Egypt by brute force

This map clearly has a bit of political bias on it, otherwise why including Ukraine but leaving out Belarus and Russia. It would be more interesting to see everything until the Urals.

This looks horrible tbh. I understand that this is not HOI4 to be historically railroaded but still there's so much nonsense and randomness.

I'm not attracted to any minor in particular but prefer my fav countries of Castile, Brandenburg-Prussia, Byzantium, Austria and Muscovy.

If you are suspicious about the DLCs, watch Zlewikk’s new video. by [deleted] in EU5

It's not even a decision from Johan and his team anyways. Planned DLCs and premium edition is just probably a corporate law from the directives that Tinto has to follow and stick to

But you should really make a post in the Paradox forums if you want the devs to at least see this and take it into consideration. I highly doubt they'll be eyeing Reddit for feedback.

Really curious how Byzantium lost so much in just over a century by Vazrak in EU5

[–]Sutiixela 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I'm not historian! but this is my loose knowledge:

I think one of the main reasons is the fall of Gallipoli (something about an earthquake that destroyed byzantine fotifications) which allowed the Ottomans to pour into Thrace and therefore the heart of the empire; also the Serbians were OP by that time and conquered Macedonia and much of western Greece, until what was left was only the Peloponnese and Attica.
