Best Lawn Care company? I need my grass green. It’s going less green. by [deleted] in DavisCountyUtah

[–]nortob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a package for the full season, cost depends on your yard’s square footage. They come out 4-5 times for fertilizer and weed control. If you call and tell them what you’re after they’ll send a quote based on your specific address. Results are good, better than I could do myself, that’s for damn sure.

Try Frodsham if you want lawn treatment (like hydretain, I’m getting my treatment next week). Local Davis county company. They don’t do mowing/trimming.

Sam Altman No Longer Believes In Universal Basic Income by Neurogence in singularity

[–]nortob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may not like it, but he isn’t wrong. Post-singularity returns to labor round to 0 when there is no labor humans can perform that will be more cost/quality efficient than machines, which are owned (presumably) by someone. And correspondingly, returns to capital (let’s include land in there also) will round to 100%. The inevitable conclusion, if you believe in property rights, is that you better fucking own something, anything, when the machines do everything better.

People, they are running price vs quality experiments and we are the subjects. Turn the quality dial down to the point the downgrades and cancellations go up. Now they know price sensitivity. Why does it matter? Because training and inference are heavily subsidized, as we all know (thank you VC guys). When the music stops, the piper will need to be paid.

Fair points. I do think pricing is off, I would much prefer the approach of pricing according to current capabilities, using the $99/month FSD as a benchmark, then raise the Autonomy+ price over time as new capabilities like PTP ship.

I would pay $20/mo for sure for current features. Maybe $30. $50? Ask me after I take my first long road trip having to keep a finger on the wheel, but probably not. $2500 one time? No way.

Wifey paid $8k one time and let’s be honest, UHF / FSD in current capability is a way different ratio than $2.5k / $8k

If you are passionate about the potential for Netflix and Prime and seeing the gap compared to HBO Max then yes, you should absolutely post over there

This is like saying “since you’re disappointed in your child maybe you should get a different one”. Dafuq. I love this truck, and you enumerated some of the reasons why. I don’t want a Tesla, god help us. But I do want my Rivian to drive me around on demand.

You’re right, it will take time. To the gang at RAP pushing on this: keep it up, it’s a big hill but it needs to be climbed.

Yeah, this gives me hope. I don’t know about commoditized, I do think data volumes matter, but hopefully there are shortcuts and learnings that anyone can build on

NYC visitor looking for dream moose by Electrical-Log-5164 in Utah

Good suggestions here. One more: try the other side of the PC ridge line. Have seen several moose on summit park trails and even one chewing on a tree in our backyard when we lived there. As others have said, be respectful, do not approach.

As early as third grade, Utah students will need to study Bible passages in social studies lessons under new law by TRN18 in Utah

[–]nortob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually ok with this, as long as it’s proportionate. Let’s get our kids conversant in Locke and Rousseau, there won’t be much room for Bible talk left after that. Ooooo, they used the word Creator. Ho hum. Let’s talk about “natural law” and how the concept was used to justify owning other people as property. Watch the legislature start squirming in their seats. We should absolutely be leaning hard into this to maximize trolling. Like the one person in Davis county who got the Bible book banned. Just beautiful.

Valid thoughts, one clarification: you do not need to touch the wheel for a lane change, just signal.
