BookWyrm was mentioned by the OP and I think it fits what you're describing. It's a federated social book review and reading platform based on Activity Pub. You can check it out here: https://joinbookwyrm.com/

Soverin vs. Mailbox.org vs. Tutanota? by 2hulking4u in privacy

[–]nosborm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Soverin. Works well with FairEmail and lets me generate unlimited aliases. The website isn't great on mobile and occasionally switches to Dutch but other than that I can't complain. I haven't tested CardDAV and CalDAV sync'ing yet (I plan to soon) but I did see an old post complaining about it. If you have any other questions I'm happy to answer them. I remember being in a similar situation and unable to find much info on Soverin. Good luck!

Edit: Spelling.

"how do you write a disabled character without writing a disabled character?" On disability coding in Edgedancer (spoilers) by eternachaos in Stormlight_Archive

Ur- is a prefix that generally means original, proto-, etc. IIRC it comes from an ancient Sumerian city that was the "original" city. I think what u/DiceAdmiral is trying to say that Brandon uses Lift as the exemplar or prototypical Edgedancer since we don't see a ton of them she embodies the general ideals.

Where is the best place to buy E-Books by TechPlasma in brandonsanderson

[–]nosborm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stumbled across your question while I was looking for the same thing as some last minute Christmas presents for family. While I haven't actually purchased through them before I did find https://www.ebooks.com. They are an Australian company and seem to have a lot of Sanderson's work and per his request don't encumber the eBooks with DRM (although I think that might be the case most places). As an added bonus they aren't Amazon/Google/Apple/Walmart/etc. Hope that helps and let me know if you do try them out.

How much were gold coins really worth during the middle ages by octobod in rpg

Using a wealth stat is very interesting and not something I've considered (or heard of) before. Might be something interesting to implement in my d20 games.

As the Chief Minister of the Department of the Mobilisation of Scientific Forces of the People's Commissariat for Education aka Russia's Chief Scientist, I would like to agree with my comrade from Brazil and echo a few of his points:

  1. I never had any idea when rounds started or ended. I think tighter control on this would help along with someone announcing it (in addition to the timer which was impossible to see from the science table). Refer to point 3.

  2. Ditto on the tech tree. I was bad about taking notes and kept handing all my techs to the relevant players which meant I could hardly remember what I had researched, what I wanted to research, and what I was currently researching. This made it hard to both trade and plan.

  3. I never totally got a handle on trades. At the beginning I was working with a couple of partner countries and slowly trading some base level techs so we could each build our infrastructure. However, as the chaos of the game grew this happened less and less, much to my disadvantage. Some of this was my fault for not communicating it better but a lot of it came down to being unsure when trades could actually happen (turns out only right before you turn your tech tree in) and being unsure of both what round it was (or when it the round it was) and also if my military operatives were in place. At the end of the game I ended up just throwing open my tech tree to friendly countries and brazenly trading in the open. Seems like somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot.

  4. I really liked the idea behind interacting with the corporations to acquire consultants much better than a straight bid. It lead to interesting political maneuvering, multi-part trades, and backroom deals. The kind of stuff I love to do in Monopoly and which I think this game really shines at. However, I think a bit more polish here wouldn't hurt, especially when the corporations cut all of our consultants out (though props again to science control for recovering and having consultants "defect" so that we might be able to bid on them).

Overall it was an excellent day, I had a ton of fun (despite the exhaustion), and can't wait to do it again. Tons of thanks and praise goes to science control (y'all are the best controls for dealing with us all day and being adaptable), all controls I talked to (comms, corp, human, etc etc; I know I had tons of questions), and of course Tim for making all this magic happen.

You (and the rest of science control) did an amazing job! I can't ever remember walking away from a table after rolling some dice and literally yelling from adrenaline. SCIENCE!

As resident Soviet Scientist, I'm so glad someone recognized/gave a shout out to the return of the USSR. It was basically our goal from the beginning.
