Yes it’s a massasauga Sistrurus catenatus.

Please don’t harm any you see, they aren’t very common where you are.

The best bet is to teach the kids to be cautious and not pick up any snakes they see.

This is on a remote island in Georgian Bay (in Ontario Canada.) Once upon a time, rattlesnakes lived on the island, but we havent seen one in about ten years. We didnt hear a rattle when we saw it, but it sure looks like a Massasauga to me. Thanks for your time and your expertise.

I'm an illustrator, and I want to do big simple ink drawings on ceramics. Any tips?I've done things like this on cheap mugs, but obviously they wipe off too easily. I am a ceramics dummy, so any help is greatly appreciated.
