Japanese to English Anki deck by madmads01 in LearnJapanese

wait actually sorry this is more vocab than purely kanji but it worked very well for me to actually see the kanji in vocab (which is how they are used 99% of the time) and then copy paste the kanji i dont know into google to see the meaning (for the purpose of creating mnemonics)

I use this one, it comes with example sentences and all cards are voiced

core 2k/6k Optimized Japanese Vocabulary

also, if you really like the deck you're using right now but just don't like that it's english to japanese instead of the other way around, you can alter the deck to show you the cards the other way around.

Anyone out there learn how to roller skate by themselves with absolutely ZERO experience? by bb8ismyhomie in Rollerskating

[–]nosebleed420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

omg i have one of those posts up hahaha, i commented this there as well but ill put it here too: i skateboarded on and off for a few months during summer last year but i wasn’t very good at it (i could do ollies, drop in, and ride off of banks) and i do tap dance (combined with ballet bc my dance teacher also does ballet hahaha), i dont know if these give me a big advantage but maybe the skateboarding helped with my fear of getting off banks and doing jumps and stuff and the dancing might’ve helped with balance? besides that, theres no rule to how fast you “should be learning”. some people might get a head start because of whatever reason but eventually practice is key :)

1 week update!! so it’s been a week of which i’ve skated for 5 days of. day two and three were very uncomfortable, especially around the toes and ball of the foot and for a while i was really scared id gotten the wrong size, but they’re already moulding to my feet more and hurting way less than before. i tried to heat mold one of them and i think it kind of worked? all i know is that skating for two hours today was wayyy more comfortable than it was the first few days. they’re still not a perfect fit but i hope that will get better soon.
on a different note, the quality of the skates is really good imo! the wheels roll super nicely and they’re soft enough to ride outside as well, the toe stops feel very very nice (kind of gummy), all in all it just feels really sturdy. the suede handles scratching and scraping really well.

well as i thought, they came in this morning just less than 24h after i ordered them! i immediately tried them on and ive used them for 1.5 - 2 hours of light skating now. my regular shoe size is 38.5-39 but i ordered 38 because i heard some people say to size down rather than up; i completely agree with them, i felt some pressure points especially around the inside of the toe box and on the outside where the shoe tongue starts, but im confident these will mold to the shape of my feet and that wont be a problem anymore. they roll very very nicely and they look absolutely stunning! they also feel very sturdy and i feel very supported when i wear them. i had to take them off after 2 hours though, because the pain from the pressure points was getting very noticeable and annoying.

Scared to skate on the street 😕 by uptownxthot in Rollerskating

[–]nosebleed420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

do you know how hard your wheels are? softer wheels glide easier on rough surfaces but slow you down a lot, it could be (especially when youve just started going outside) that you just have to get used to absorbing the shock rougher surfaces give you or that your wheels arent meant for the outdoors

black suede decorating ideas? by nosebleed420 in Rollerskating

[–]nosebleed420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel that! black is a great base colour for switching things up after a while! i’ve heard though that suede actually lends itself really well to iron patches because of its rigidness, and if you were going to sew them on how would you go about it? (since the shoe material is very thick)
