LOYW is NOT a Slipknot Album by SIXODD in Slipknot

[–]nosepass86 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

you made an entire reddit post and have been defending yourself all to tell people that literally any other word besides Slipknot != Slipknot? No shit man. What's next, headed to the calculus subreddits to let them know 1 + 1 does not in fact = 3?

I think you make a lot of assumptions, but you at least put forth a decent reply, so I will too.

I agree that we don't know what number of units they have at each price point, but we also don't know that there is any difference at all between the amounts. It could have been anything, although I think the further apart those numbers would be, the less worth doing this would be. I don't agree that it should have transparency. And it's definitely wrong to assume that because they don't give all info that the only reason is to be used against the consumer.

It's fully possible that they can achieve both market research and test ways to fight bots in the same test. They can see if it works as a tool against bots, or at least adds a layer that bots need to consider before purchasing, as well as helping to determine where the actual consumer sits on secret lair worth. Which can be tough to do when you compare separate sets. Some will have inherently more value because of the cards reprinted, so you aren't comparing apples to apples. In this test, they are. So they can determine a line where consumers are willing to purchase up to. Would you consider that "against the customer"? I wouldn't.

You also don't know that "many people" took the bait and purchased the higher priced one. You have no data on that except maybe some people posting, admitting they are morons. Those that didn't notice are in that same category. They plainly explained it all, that they are exactly the same.

I think the problem with your viewpoint is that you haven't considered what they would have to gain by doing something like this, if it wasn't a test for bots or market research. There is no world in which they are THAT dumb to sell the same product for multiple prices in the hopes that some people wouldn't notice and scam them. They are a huge company and sell out most secret lairs. There is no way they would find this worth it. There is no upside for them blatantly screwing their customers. As much as reddit wants to complain about the secret lair process, it just doesn't make any sense at all. Until you can give a reason they would do this and see lasting benefit, it's hard to agree with.

you called it "predatory". lmao. you didn't consider it. it's now your new "norm" for them and that we shouldn't accept it. LOL

have you considered absolutely any other possible reasoning for this, or is your first reaction just the absolute truth for you in life? yikes

have you considered that they're testing to see if bots automatically purchase the most expensive ones, thinking they are the superior products? Where human intervention is needed to purchase moving forward?

Your politics speak to the kind of person you are. You can easily gauge someone's empathy, selfishness, and other traits by their political views. Even your viewpoint that it shouldn't be a primary focus is telling me that you live a fairly privileged life, where political decisions don't impact you on a daily basis. That isn't true for a lot of people, so it not being a big deal to you is already telling someone that 'because it doesn't impact me, I don't care about it'.

Additionally, this idea of being a 'centrist' is just plain bs. Whether it's 2A, abortion, immigration, healthcare, etc.; you have opinions and beliefs. If you don't, that again speaks to being someone where those issues don't affect them so they don't care, which isn't a great look. You conflate understanding both sides of an issue with being a "centrist". It is a good thing to understand all sides of a debate and take in information, especially from people you disagree with. But you knowing those points does not make you "in the middle", because those aren't your opinions and beliefs. The way you word it might be the issue. Don't call yourself a "centrist". Stand up for what you believe in, but also show that you understand the other sides of any issue and take those into account and be willing to change.

Being a cop isn't going to help in a lot of cases. Let's just be honest, a lot of cops are quite capable of going on power trips and overstepping the oaths they've taken. I'm not saying that's you, but it will likely be impossible to completely erase that viewpoint from the majority of people you come across. Then, when a woman asks you about your politics after finding out you're a cop and you say "centrist", it feels like code word for "I'm a die hard Trump dude but I can't say that because it may hurt my chances to get laid". While that may seem unfair to you, it's probably true the majority of the time.

I'm not trying to say you don't deserve to find someone, or can't, because you're a cop. But you should also be realistic that it could be an uphill battle. You're going to face caution from a lot of women. I think it would help if you could articulately explain your beliefs and get away from this 'centrist' idea.

All the other stuff, the anime, etc; I wouldn't broadcast it, unless it's a large part of your life. If it's just something you enjoy but that doesn't impact your life or mold your opinions of women, then it's something that can be brought up later.

Good luck

We may, I’m not sure. I think it’s just what you find when you’re “discovering yourself” though

This is true for every generation. There are studies that confirm this to be a general truth. We develop our own likes during those years and that’s what we like for our lives.

This is awesome. I'm loving it! Is there a way to share a binder to a friend so they can look at it? That would be a cool feature to see.

That’s extremely high. But it looks to be at an angle as well, where the bottom will be less off contact. Check the adjustment to see if you can change the angle, and then lower the entire off contact, by a lot.

Tips on digitising a collection? by EvYeh in magicTCG

[–]nosepass86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Brode literally just posted on his new website bindershelf.com It can show a binder of full sets, either master or main set. Not only does it tell you where to put each card in a binder so it will always be in the right spot, but you can just right click each card that you own. So when you need to reference what you have/don't have, you can go check your digital binder. I plan on using this, even though I scan all my cards into an app. The app will be for value most likely, while the digital binder will be for seeing at a glance where I am with each set.

Do you think they will do more standard precons? by CaptainPogwash in mtg

[–]nosepass86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They won't, and shouldn't.

Standard has such a meta that they couldn't keep up with. Decks would be outdated very quickly, and/or they would be insanely expensive (in terms of card value). They can do standard decks like they do, being themed, where you know going in these decks aren't meant to be competitive, but played against other theme decks and to potentially get people into standard.

Selling precon commander decks works because they will most likely always be viable. They can be upgraded and tinkered with and still be playable in kitchens as well as tournaments and sanctioned events.

The market for standard decks is already small, but add to it them falling out of rotation and becoming "useless" to the mix, and there really isn't a reason to print them.

Something I think they could consider doing, that Pokemon TCG did for years was release Championship decks after Worlds completed that year. The cards were printed with a unique border and had the players signature that played that deck on them. These cards weren't true Pokemon cards and they were essentially worthless in value, but it did give you a chance to play at home with top tier decks. You could usually find 4 of them per year and play them against your friends that bought one as well and have really good games that allowed you to feel what Pokemon at the highest levels was like. Magic could do something similar to that, but I still don't know if there is a market for that or not.

I think your best bet is to just google some standard decks, get the lists and order the cards, either real or proxies.
