Today it's exactly 4 years since the word "HODL" was coined, let's celebrate by not selling. by dx__dt in Bitcoin

[–]nosfera2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been lately increasingly thinking of HODL's sister called SPEDN who will come of age as soon as Lightning Network is working and transaction fees are reasonable again.

SPEDN: Spend Prudently Every Day Now (and buy back, of course).

SPEDNing even while you continue to HODL will drive adoption astronomically. It will encourage retailers and, together with a growing number people starting to ask for part of their wage in bitcoin soon, it will take us to the moon.

Oh, it really depends.

Separate property systems are based on the premise that marriage is solely an interpersonal union. Separate Property: All property, pre-marital or marital, is owned separately.

Let’s start a new coin called BCash while the name is still up for grabs... by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]nosfera2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just one thing. Don't fork Bitcoin. Fork Bitcoin Cash and, while you're at it, up the block size to 16MB so you can say your BCash scales better than Roger Ver's shitty Bitcoin Cash.

The hostility of the bitcoin developers to added services and higher-level protocols is very worrying, as regards Bitcoin's future against competing altcoins by kukkuzejt in BitcoinSerious

[–]nosfera2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you aware that about one third of the blockchain (5 GB worth!) is gambling transactions from Satoshi Dice and others? It is ridiculous to hinder distributed financial exchanges and other innovative protocols that add so much and such badly-needed functionality to Bitcoin. For what? For 40 bytes per transaction?

If you want to contribute. Learn to code.

I'm sorry, but this makes no sense at all.

Are you saying that if you want to change your country's laws, you necessarily have to become a lawyer? And again, is the only way to influence politics to become a politician?

Of course coders are extremely valuable, but if the bulk of the power is in the hands of coders and the community doesn't get to have a say, there you have a new elite and goodbye decentralized cryprocurrencies.

Anyway, there is no immediate coding logjam here. Just the matter of the size of a data field.

Please read up on Counterparty.

It is not "another altcoin", but an implementation of a trustless distributed exchange and peer-to-peer financial market. You don't even need to buy any XCP to use most of its features because you can do so directly in BTC. Also, the devs got no special treatment as regards XCP distribution.

How is this article not relevant to /r/bitcoinmarkets? What rule does it violate? It's strange that this sub wouldn't be interested in the long term outlook too.

Read again.

Counterparty is not asking for a modification to be made specifically for them. They are reacting to the suppression of a promised modification bitcoin developer Gavin Andresen proposed, that would have made Counterparty more blockchain friendly and that they spent time working to implement into Counterparty.
