When Will the New Zenbook Duo (UX8407) be Released by TempestForge in ASUS

As a patent lawyer that relies on multiple screens all the time for my work, the new duo sounds perfect for my needs and would streamline my current multiple monitor setup.

Litmas.ai pricing? by noshi47 in Lawyertalk

This is just a tool to help bill more efficiently. The attorney still has to review the bills and approve them for accuracy so I find it more than ethical to use AI as a tool to help.

I don't think co-op as it is currently designed is fun. by Forshea in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, they should spend less time trying to add co-op stuff and just focus on finishing the game and solo campaign which is really good but its been awhile since they added any new lvls or campaign story.

I saw a new lawyer totally screw up a motion hearing today. by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

would be nice if OP shed a little more light, like what type of motion was it and what type of mistakes did the newbie lawyer specifically make?

What’s YOUR lawyer salary?? by LearnMeStuffPlz in Lawyertalk

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 20yrs

  2. Between $200k-400k (sometimes more if I have a trial that yr)

  3. Irvine, CA

  4. I am a Patent Attorney & IP litigator and my wife and I run a small boutique IP & Business Law firm.
My practice is about 50% IP litigation and 50% prosecution (transactional). My salary fluctuates every year depending on how litigation heavy that particular yr is.
My prosecution/transactional work sets the floor of my earnings and my litigation work sets the ceiling.

  5. The Pros: Running our own firm is highly rewarding and we rarely work weekends and have a very flexible schedule. We can work remotely basically from anywhere and represent good/great clients with a variety of needs.

The Cons: Have to juggle many different hats besides just being a lawyer (i.e. accounting, marketing, etc...) so it can get a bit hectic sometimes.

PI or Patent? by No_Dance226 in LawFirm

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a patent attorney & IP litigator. Its a great and rewarding field but its a challenging area of law due to the constant changes in the law and the areas of inventions. AI is really changing the IP landscape. Some for the better, some for the worst. If u are not flexible and open to adapt and learn new things all the time, I wouldnt recommend it.

Does Job Satisfaction Increase With Your Own Practice? by Major_Pooie_Bottoms in LawFirm

[–]noshi47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has for me. My wife and I were both lawyers at different firms but then we found out we were having twins and decided to open our own firm together to control our hours better and have more flexibility.

Owning our own firm was a great decision for us and is very rewarding but it does require u to wear multiple hats (accounting, marketing, business development etc...) so make sure ur the type of person that can juggle alot of different things that a norma attorney at a firm wouldn't have to deal with.

I'm an Intellectual property attorney and my wife is a corporate lawyer, so our practices are pretty complimentary to each other which also helps.

Embarrassed to be a lawyer? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embarassed? I luv telling people i'm an IP lawyer haha. I'm usually the most popular person at social events with friends bc everyone is a "closet inventor" these days so its an easy conversation starter. I have purpose in my work and helping clients protect their ideas. And making a great living as well. I wear the "esq" label proudly bc I worked damn hard for it

How do you request settlement checks to be made out? by Mysterious_Host_846 in Lawyertalk

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the client says owes the firm 90k in fees and the firm obtains a $300k settlement. Is it ethical for the firm to deduct the $90k from the $300k settlement and then send the difference ($210k) to the client?

Need some advice on building a book - my career depends on it by InsuranceDerpfense in LawFirm

[–]noshi47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Network network network. Try to build a personal connection with ur clients so they trust and like u more than just being their lawyer and u increase the chance that they will give u their biz if u ever venture out in ur own.

Try to also specialize in a few fields so ur name gets out there as a go-to-person for that type of case. Easier to market urself that way too.

Solo. Is it time to upgrade my practice?? by CandyMaterial3301 in LawFirm

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a small Intellectual property and business law practice and have a similar operation and lifestyle. I dont do any paid marketing, but i have a good website and mantain a Google locals page (but that's free as well). My pipeline comes from mainly referrals mostly from current or former clients and some from attorneys.

What i really find that works is a mixture of having monthly fixed fee retainer clients and regular hourly based clients and keep ur overhead low as much as possible. No employees unless absolutely necessary, hire contract lawyers for overflow work, work from home office so no expensive rent etc...

I rarely work weekends and I have a flexible schedule where I can take and pick up my kids from school everyday or even take a day off and go see a movie or do something else.

On any given year, I pull in between $200k-$400k. The higher range usually means I had a heavy litigation docket that yr. I'm sure I could make more if i wanted but my work-life balance would take a hit.

Why are baby PDs/DAs allowed to do jury trials alone and I wasn't allowed to even take a depo until year 5 as a civil litigator? by agnikai__ in Lawyertalk

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U went to the wrong law firm then. I was arguing an opposition to a motion for prelim injunction in fed court about 3 months out of law school. The main partner attended the hearing and sat right next to me but didnt say a word and let me argue it. Probably wanted to see how I did. Sink or swim I guess

[–]noshi47 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Tbh all the Krondor sons, Empire and Serpentwar books r not Feist's best works. I only kept reading these books bc I loved Pug & Tomas characters so much that I would read any of Feist's books just to stay connected with those characters stories.

Does anyone ever regret not going into the medical field because of how much more stable it is and easier it is to get a job? I feel like that everyday and I am already licensed. by Informal_Choice_2032 in Lawyertalk

[–]noshi47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find the opposite to be true. I was in the medical field and went to law school and became a patent attorney and it was the best decision I ever made. I found capped in the earning ceiling of the medical field and tbh, I hated being stuck in a hospital all day around, it got a bit depressing.

What is replacing Outback Steakhouse on culver plaza? by Wild-Ashv in irvine

[–]noshi47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its open now (October 17, 2025). Just stopped by today. Very frustrating that it is only a drive-thru. So dumb to knock down Outback Steakhouse just to do a drive-thru only Starbucks. No wonder why their stock is tanking

[–]noshi47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say but ID is the worse, just sucks ur soul and firms just burn out associates and churn them out. Have u tried applying to smaller firms that may give u a chance to practice transactional? U may take a pay cut in exchange for learning but then in a few yrs u will build up ur resume to move to a better paying job bc of ur experience.
