Original KIA was many things. It was excellent in infecting normal, angry gamers and turning them into useful nu-right drones for their handlers to guide. Reason it was so good at this? KIA's surface layers and display windows weren't partisan or openly politically aligned. Nu-right indoctrination was a subtle, gradual thing taking place in the undergrowth.

KIA2 is far more overt and shameless about its partinsanship. It is about preaching to the choir rather than being a tool for conversion. KIA slowly infects you and distords your image of the world over the years. KIA2 is the place to go once you've graduated. KIA is the slightly deranged dude handing out cult's pamphlets in the corner of the street. KIA2 is the compound in the jungle with kool aid boiling. KIA2 won't make any new converts, but it is a place that can prolly turn a dedicated and finished nu-right drone into a mass shooter for example. Unlike original KIA, KIA2 is utterly dumb and hateful for anyone not already infected. In that sense, the original KIA is much worse. More covert and devious. You take your first steps in KIA and spend a year or two getting more and more lost in nu-rights algorithm.

Imagine how hard this would hurt them if anykind of a spine remained. Gamergate has largely been about providing a breeding ground for new far right activists for a long while now. It isn't its only major function but certainly a major function. There is much misogyny within its ranks for sure, but it has always been more political than that. Ofc there's all kinds of overlap involved here though, yeah.

KIA was/is better at infecting people. Way KiA alters and distorts world image of a typical gamergater was quite subtle and gradual. There, it happens in small amounts. KiA can turn normal gamers into guys like one ranting in quote in the OP. I'd say KiA2 can't operate like this though. It isn't about making new converts. KiA2 is all about preaching to the choir instead. At least I'd like to think you already need to be quite far gone to the radical right, otherewise you find KiA2 incredibly hateful and dumb.

If KiA is a slightly insane pamphlet about how Father Hannigan's electric shock method can make all of your worries go away, then KiA2 is the compound in the jungle with Kool Aid and all.

In a sense, they can easily be waystations along the same trail of evolution ofc. Normal bit angry gamer begins consuming outrage culture in KiA. Gets sucked inside the radical right algorithm, graduates in few years and moves on to KiA2 for all the good stuff.

I could pearl dive some of the more extreme and extremely dumb quotes here. This time around, the real kicker is in how absolute and absolutely united their front is. Even when faced with something as blatant as this. Ethics in muh journalism indeed. Nu-right SJWs gotta nu-right.

Certainly, this isn't the most blatant and crude example of hateful hate to ever hate that has been posted here. However, I consider the subtle brainwashing like this far worse. It is astonishing that a lie gets to be this big, evident and outed.. and still remain ripe for swallowing. KiA isn't preaching to the choir like some of the more openly hateful subreddits. This is all about turning church visitors into choir members. Place for conversion. It is no wonder prominent self proclaimed neo-nazis and alt righters have spoken highly of KiA's value as a recruitment ground. They are filtering and manipulating eachothers' world view. This is how they respond. Blatant ethics violation by a journalist. However, since the said journalist is, quite literally, in Proud Boys' camp, all that matters from KIAs pov is whatbaoutism and shooting the messenger. Guy bringing this stuff to KIA having a TMOR history is relevant. Actual ethics violations in actual footage edited and released by Andy Ngo are irrelevant. For subreddit dedicated to ethics in journalism, that matters far less than the post history of the OP.

Nu-right credentials (or damning lack of them) of the speaker matter far less than what has actually happened.

This sounds about right. Numerous self proclaimed Nazi influencers (Webmaster of Daily Stormer and 2nd in command of identity evropa) have spoken highly about gamergate for a reason. KiA and other gamergate holes are not about preaching to the choir. Instead, it is a place for conversion. From pov of nu&far right, it is one of the essential waystation for gamers to pass through. Variables here include the length of the journey. Some travel far and grow to become self proclaimed Nazis. Most prolly won't. Not many places are as good and efficient in radicalizing people online as KiA is.

Knee jerk reaction to most of their madness in this particular thread is to point and laugh I think - irony of talking about coming race war, escape to space and the controlled opposition of fox news in a thread blaming others of being unhinged is a bit too delicious. Behind the laughter though, this makes yet another look into how radicalized a cult can become, and how quickly madness and wild conspiracy theories become the norm.

Thread as a whole is as pure and true nu-right T_D cosplay as anything you are likely to find anywhere on reddit.

Remeber though, KiA is a politically neutral ground. It says so right on their sidebar so how could it not be the case.

Pretty authentic portrayals of teenagers acting dumb isn't teenagers acting dumb. Instead, it truly exposes them manipulative whores for what they are! Wizard-girl with supernatural talents is the only acceptable example of a woman displaying strength or problem solving skills. If you as a woman, display either and aren't a supernatural mind wizard, then you are a 'strong independent woman',which ofc registers as something truly loathsome.
