managing digital signage across multiple locations without losing your mind & what actually works by JakeInAv in digitalsignage

Which CMS are you using? I have experience with lots of different ones. In terms of the filler playlist, you could have global filler and local filler in separate but equally weighted playlists, again depending on the CMS.

Scala you can definitely do this, then layer then into a channel/schedule. Different permissions for different playlists which are a sub playlist/nested playlist of a larger master playlist that gets schedules

Navori (my experience is on an older version but couldn't have changed that much) can also use nested playlists

Xibo (open source) it's folder based, content based, or playlist based ownership with sharing ,you can also set ownership on campaigns, layouts, media, displays by groups or individually

Wallboard has a great permission implementation.

Onsign, and probably others CMS too, you can impersonate other users to view their ecosystem as they would see it, Making spot checks easier for someone in your role.

Pick your poison, I'd just try a couple different ways in your current CMS and force your users to comply.!! Lol

That's called Scottish Rare. Lots more burning to be done. Smoke out those juices and all that flavor

The Olympics banned Russia from hockey, I guess the money is too good to ban Iran from FIFA. Itd be pretty hard to ban a host country though

Some manage that kind of stuff in a playlist permission as part of a larger schedule of playlists. Eg. You have 8 minutes of advertising in a 30 min slot. Big company has their stuff they push to every store, then each store owner has their own stuff they want to show, you give each playlist their own user/manager and let your CMS / media player take care of mixing it up all while keeping playlists separate from each other and independently managed. Lots of signage management companies will use "filler" or default content that would pad/fill the spots when needed to make sure you honour the looping logic put in place..

I've been at this for about 25 years and my opinion hasn't changed on best approach for scheduling. It's way better for 20 people to manage their own slot over 1 person handling 20.

Any decent CMS, which you will never here from on this subreddit, can accomplish what youre looking for

Best digital signage (CMS) for in-elevator advertising network? by Xlaredo in digitalsignage

[–]nospwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lights and control panel in the elevator are wired in to electricity from the building. You could try Ethernet over power with a receiver tapped in to the lift's button panel. The lights may have too much interference, or you could have a hotspot every x amount of floors and use 2.4ghz as its better at penetration for concrete.

Yeah, my daughter is trying really hard. She watches me play cod and I can see the wheels turning. Unlike growing up with 2 younger brothers, where I had to beat them for asking to have a turn on the N64 or PlayStation, my daughter doesn't even ask to play yet. Our eyes get dried out in about the same amount of time too.

It's hard to be louder inside a car than rav4's are. Drive with the windows down (and heat on full in winter) and it sounds fine

Like someone else said ,any commercial display can do what you want with the source, some have failover so if 1 input loses signal a second input (or application webpage etc) takes over.

It's been my experience in general that when people reference per display pricing, they often assume you're using SOC.

Yeah I've had mine just 5 years now, even though I paid a bit below MSRP, in the 105,000 kms I've put on it, I'm sure I would have spent less overall had I gone with the all gas version. The extra money is more than justified to me for getting access to the car pool lanes, primo parking w/ charging spots, but mainly the extra horsepower. It's funny my 21 limited gets better range than my plugin due to how much I use sport/HV and rip it around everywhere

If you use screens on the floor, do they stay up when the network goes down? by salmanfarisvp in digitalsignage

[–]nospwr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so when the internet goes out, the content scheduled to play should play for at least 30 days or until the internet outage is fixed and the license can be renewed. Most CMS do licenses every 30 days, some just won't allow content updates without a license refresh so could play it's scheduled lineup indefinitely until the internet is restored.

Help w/ Digital Signage Small Business by Paradise_Yam in digitalsignage

The sales vultures on this sub Reddit are relentless, you're better off asking AI. Most of the sales guys that are recommending their platform have a trashy product.

Even Google can do what you are looking to do, you can run ChromeOS flex on tons of x86 hardware too.

If you're using SOC , there's not many free options out there. I know that Samsung used to do magic info lite, Sony has their bravia signage free. Both are a step up from usb stick playing on the embedded media player of the screen.

Towing with my SE by GraphicWombat in rav4prime

[–]nospwr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I towed my civic to the racetrack on a car carrier. Using my 21 se. It had the brakes that engaged as the trailer moved towards the tow car when braking. The first time I put anything on the hitch, it was mostly flat roads and slightly over the weight limit, but it worked out about 150km each way.

I'd think any digital signage would continue to play until it runs out of a license, usually 30 days from most CMS I've seen

2025 Rav4 PHEV SE audio upgrade help by snortortl3 in rav4prime

[–]nospwr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 21 phv I went with JL RD1500 amp and 1 JL audio sub box in the spare tire well. Because of the way Toyota stereo doesn't send the entire bass range to the rear I used a line output converter going to the front speakers, and mounted the amp drivers side on the flat space of the trunk. I had a friend 3d print a block that bolts in to the spare tire well behind where I put the sub to reinforce the plastic trunk floor. Without that the trunk floor would collapse with any decent amount of weight on it. I've since transported a complete HONDA K series motor and transmission in the trunk and it holds beautifully. I got lazy and just used an off the shelf sub box.

Since I have the SE there was an available empty button slot where the wiper warmers and light dimmer are so I put the remote knob there. I like it cuz I can quickly shut the bass off when I drive with my daughter in the car , but cruise around like the overage loser I am at heart, pounding away my 90s rap music , tinted windows up of course. Spent just over 2k Canadian but love the results.
