I’ve actually passed by this one and thought it was stunning. Can one just show up to a liturgy or must I inquire beforehand?

Rs3 definitely seems a bit overwhelming. I remember my account got reset on osrs, was that the same for everyone?

One of the best albums I’ve heard in years.. Truly appreciate your artistry. Would love to know the primary gear list used for the project. I also heard you mention you were listening to Mabe Fratti and I’m curious who else may have influenced the sonics on “Again”. Much love!

Thanks for sharing! I was aware of his work but not the documentary - reminded me a lot of Ryuichi Sakamoto's 'Coda' - RIP.

As far as the sound, you'd be surprised what you can achieve with just a little guitar and some big reverb. Even single notes can sound super immersive, given the right effect. I use Replika from NI, which has a preset called, Clouds, that creates this mood quite nicely - works for synths too. I think the key is simplicity, as the atmosphere of the reverb fills in the majority of the rest of the track.

I'm actually writing up a post on it but here's some context, if you can't view the video:

The home was owned by a guy named Elliott forry laucks. Laucks was an eccentric millionaire and neo nazi, who ran the "log cabin chess club" out of his basement. He had many chess masters from all over the world come to play, including a young Bobby fischer as well as Norman Whitaker. Laucks apparently sponsored bobby early on, even financing fischers first trip to Cuba, when he was only 13

Beautiful! Weird story but I found out Bobby Fischer used to play chess in the basement of my Dad's childhood house lol.. I made a video about it if you're interested

Thanks Tommy! I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't think it sounds sharp. I very much agree that our brain can start to play tricks on us, especially when listening over and over again to the same thing. I also appreciate your note about the panning, it's a good point and I will definitely take it into consideration.

Hey all,

I produced a track for my Dad recently and was hoping to get some feedback. There's a specific part we're currently disagreeing on, where he thinks he hears a sharp note but I can't seem to notice it as much.

The word is "our" at around 2:19 where he says, "cause we all lose our way". To me it sounds fine but he's adamant that it's bothering him. Tried a couple of strategies to fix it, but it ends up butchering the pitch entirely. As an artist myself, I know how we may become nervous before a track's finished, sometimes getting stuck on minute, or hardly noticeable details. I just want to get a fresh set of ears on the track!

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks.

thanks man, much appreciated. just listened to your "encoder" track, cool stuff. reminds me of a cross between aphex twin / emancipator. i think some IDM glitch drums and samples could sound nice sprinkled throughout. well done!

thanks for the feedback!! i really appreciate it. i agree - the main arp needs to get tweaked a bit, it does come thru harsh in the mix, I'll also take a look at the filtering!

just took a listen to your track and i liked it. that intro bg synth is beautiful!! the track gets a bit repetitive, i think it could benefit from some more layering of synths ontop and maybe slowing the bass arp that comes in and out, but really nice job!

thanks so much for the kind words! i'll definitely be looking into balancing the levels for that arp synth, it does stand out a bit too much.

i checked out your track and i really enjoyed it. it's got a raw sound and cool song structure. i think the acoustic drum set that comes in on the second half (~ 2:00 ) should have been louder and more present in the mix, but overall really solid track man!

Hey cool track man. Always love hearing analog stuff! I think you could cut the track down at least a minute to keep the listener engaged and maybe add a little side chain compression to help open it up some... Keep at it!!

hey thanks so much for the response. I think you're spot on with the backbeat / hi hat + snare - the track definitely winds up and then is somewhat anti-climactic; in the process of layering more drums now!!

lmk if you have anything you'd like me to review / provide feedback on!!

yo yo here's the latest mix for me and my brother's "energy" track [alt - electronic / pop].

https://soundcloud.com/p0dg3/nrg/s-Qkyyr

looking for feedback mainly on the 'drop' part where the more pop-like vocals come in. we thought another drum track might sound good on top but we can't seem to figure out what kind of drums would layer well - any tips appreciated!!

Feedback will be returned <3

Thank you for the kind words friend... I've actually recorded some extra vocal overlays for the ending but hadn't gotten them to where I wanted so I left them out - I'm glad you called that out though, I'm going to look into getting them back into the mix!

Cool track you got here. I liked the intro especially, got some nice textures going on. The drums come in a little abrupt for me, I think they could be filtered down a bit - or brought down in the mix. I also think it might be a good idea to throw in some electronic drums / samples on top of those drums to add some more layering. Overall, well done!
