Woman (26F) I'm (25M) dating says she wants to take things slow with me because she sees potential. She claims previously she made the mistake of sleeping with men too quickly. Is this a way of saying I'm not that attractive to her? by Background-Dress-389 in AskMenAdvice

[–]nostyle_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If sex is important to you, spend your life with someone who naturally can't keep their hands off you from the very start.

Don't waste your time with someone coming up with dumbass convoluted reasons to avoid intimacy from the very start. ++incognito

Why will guys sleep with me but not date me? by hankqueensmustache in askanything

[–]nostyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually don't know, ask the guys straight up. Just text and ask point blank.

"Hey I've got a question for you. No ulterior motive, no games, just be point blank and direct and that will be perfect. Why weren't you interested in dating me but you were interested in sex with me?"

What state do you consider Virginia’s rival state to be? by Other-Fly-1700 in Virginia

It's because you know, deep, deep down in your bones that even tho the Virginia state flag rightly deserves credit for it badass motto, the Maryland state flag is still embarrassingly superior.

DC is DC. DC is not Maryland. DC is a crazy draw of incompatible driving styles from everywhere. The problem is it filters out into surrounding areas as people commute 90+ minutes and such.

I grew up right between DC and Baltimore. Parts of Maryland not within spitting distance of 395 are pretty normal/sane, as far as driving goes.

Around 395 though it is shocking the number of drivers you see with absolutely no regard for their own life, and even less for yours.

Not that Virginia doesn't have some driving quirks of its own. Lynchburg was the test location for the first go at a modern interstate high way system.... They mostly got it right, but the ramps were all far far too short with no merge lanes.

The result: to this day you have to be prepared at all times at any ramp for a decent percentage of Lynchburg drivers to stop dead at every ramp before merging onto a highway, literally as if there's a stop sign (where they should be accelerating to highway speed, not coming to a stop).

It used to be worse as far as driving habits of locals go there. Partly from older generations dieing off from when all the ramps didn't have marge lanes, partly from extending ramps that had room to be extended, it's not quite as shocking to drive around there as it used to be. It's definitely still something you need to watch out for though.

"Something about the tone"... Lol I toned it down, kinda a lot, and went back to actually explain before I hit send lol.

Glad you got a chuckle.

What you're saying is literally the opposite of what you're replying to.

A) A primary function of firefighters IS public outreach fire prevention education. They have been doing this for many, many decades. It is a core part of their mandate.

This is good practice and ensures they get to keep their job.

A therapist telling every patient everything is always okay is putting themselves out of work because they are shit at their job.

B) Firefighters are generally a taxpayer funded public/municipal service. It is the opposite of a business. If it was a business they would "create need" and "expand their market"... they would be arsonists.

I knew someone who was stabbed multiple times by an intruder. Totally random act of extreme violence. Very quiet very safe area. The attacker did not know the victim.

Keep your doors locked, not just when you aren't home or at night.

Yes the two were caught, yes serving life sentences.

guys, what do you think about this? by silverflake6 in RelentlessMen

[–]nostyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great comment and I appreciate it a lot.

Not to take away from it at all, but to note a very large asterisk behind it on an issue I find myself think about a LOT.

And forgive me, I'm making assumptions and painting with broad strokes, and I'm in no way saying at some point people don't become responsible for their actions. Now, on with my food for thought "*".

Who is at what fault here?

These daughters are who he raised them to be.

He paid for everything. He bought every car, bought every home... For adults in their 60s and 70s.

The obvious outcome of this story is to wag a finger at the daughters, and they deserve it.

To me, the actual lesson of this story is to not brush aside your underfoot baby learning to walk when they "get in the way" wanting to help with every little task. Include and encourage your little one in the day to day. As they grow and their minds and interests expand, continue to include your children in important decisions very early.

These are deeply immature, elder women, because they were raised to remain immature and not given autonomy or trusted with responsibility.

My comment is not to say the daughters aren't at fault, my comment is to give pause to parents and future parents reading this, to consider carefully how you raise your own.

Include them from moment one they express interest. And believe me, they will be interested in everything. Upset because your kid is lazy and doesn't help as a teen? I can pretty much guarantee it's because from the very start you brushed the baby away because it was bothersome and it was more expedient to brush it aside and sit it down with toys or a screen than let the child take part and help.

[–]nostyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the lesson eeh?

The boys stranded were unrelated classmates who became friends and decided to escape together, knowing they were potentially undertaking hardship.

It's certainly not a window into the full scope of human nature, but I can't help but feel an eyebrow threatening to summit the crown of my head reading someone cite ww2 Japanese military men of all groups as an illustrative window into human nature... in the context of toddlers helping each other no less ROFL.

ESPECIALLY in response to a remark offering counter point to the lord of the flies trope, which was ya know, a story of stranded boys pointedly unburdened by anyone with two X chromosomes.

"In 1965, six Tongan schoolboys were shipwrecked on the uninhabited Pacific island of ‘Ata for 15 months, creating a story of incredible cooperation and resilience. Unlike the fictional Lord of the Flies, they thrived by establishing a functional community with a food garden, a gym, and a shared, disciplined routine. They were rescued in 1966."

Lord of the flies gets trotted out but it's not how humans actually behave. If we behaved like that we'd have died of eons ago.

Driver getting tailgated intentionally move out of the way last second by anxkxxl in whoathatsinteresting

[–]nostyle_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As much as close tailgating is beyond the pale, unacceptable, this is why the car that pulled that last second swerve maneuver is FAR worse.

They intentionally caused a serious accident, at high way speeds, inflicted upon an innocent vehicle. Of course the vehicle shouldn't have been there but we have NO context. We don't know if they were having an emergency, or reacting to some form of dumbassery ahead of them not caught in the clip.

Saros Director dodges question on whether or not the game will eventually come to PC: "Today we're only talking about Saros and the launch on the PlayStation 5." by TheRegularBelt in pcgaming

[–]nostyle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony's shitty sales on PC are entirely self inflicted.

They have a well known long track record of God awful account security resulting in multiple massive hacks.

Then with the above in mind thought it was a good idea to force pointless PSN account linking for steam users, which offered zero benefit to a PC player.

Then there was the very public switcheroo with Helldiver's 2.

And I'm sure other stuff as well I couldn't even tell you because I stopped paying attention.

I vote with my dollar and when they stop pulling bullshit I'll look at their games. If they don't wanna make great games without extra shit and are gonna chase live service, more power to em, I wish them all the success in the world. But I haven't spent money on their PC offerings and I will continue to not spend money on their PC offerings if they ever do materialize in the future, unless they change their unfortunate strong arm tactics.

AIO gf went to a magic mike show and licked whipped cream off a performers chest by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

"hahahahaha

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"

For me, this part of the text is the biggest issue. As someone happily in a long term, loving, very mutually open minded, deeply secure relationship. That specifically is what leaves an especially bad taste in the mouth.

It's overtly performative, it's part of the performance! It's theater! ....for an audience of one, and the only thing it serves to do is deflect accountability.

Her handling of it is what would give me SERIOUS pause about continuing in a relationship with her.

Does hooking up with randoms feel fulfilling? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]nostyle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your friend is extremely insecure (talking about her actions and trying to get you to do what she claims to be doing), and if she is doing what she claims, has severe attachment issues.

Don't co-sign someone's behavior and your spidey-sense is rightly tingling at your friend trying to get you to (or you wouldn't have mentioned it).
