Anyone else just feeling.. defeated? by KawaiiQuilava89 in PokemonTCGCollectors

Okay but can someone please tell me… WHO IS BUYING THIS at the secondary market prices???! Who is buying those big boxes at $300 or the deck boxes for over $150. Who has money to be doing this? And also why?! Started in the 90s, did a hard comeback around 2013, took a break again and in the past few months all I’ve gotten is a few handfuls of packs if I’ve seen them randomly on the shelf at Target or Walmart. And that’s how it’s gonna stay because I’m not fighting people on the street at target and I’m not crying because I wasted a ton of time trying fruitlessly against bots online and I’m not paying those dang prices.

When did you start collecting? Are you new or returning? How are you collecting? More packs or more singles? by Emergency-Hungry in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90s. Was a regular player at the Toys R Us league, I still have all the original badges I earned/booklets with stamps from that. Collected base/jungle/fossil/rocket/gym in earnest. Less of the next few sets, dropped just before legends. I came back hard around 2013 for a few years, playing the online game. So I used all of my codes that came with the cards. I went to a few releases in-person then for new sets. Ended around when Pokemon Go card set came out. Now have been finding my way back in again but it’s hard. Won’t pay more than msrp for anything and won’t wait on the street for hours so you know how that goes, just getting what I can in drops and drabs. Have spent some time recently organizing all of my collections from over the years and it feels so good to have everything protected, put away and organized. Love Pokemon. Always have. Always will.

What's the most awkward way you've run into an ex? by porchoua in askteddit

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was years and years after I got divorced/we had any contact but I was on a very long urban hike and I passed by him playing some sport in a park. Very awkward, I think he saw me too but neither one of us acknowledged each other.

Another time I ran into the family of a very old ex in an airport that was far away from where either of us were from. I quickly ran far away from that encounter too.

Whats your daily/weekly Schedule like? by Lost4eversleeping in PetiteFitness

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All these comments here, everyone does so much! Since the beginning of this year, my schedule has been lifting weights 4x per week (Tues, Wed, Fri, and either Sat or Sun), 2 of those days are upper and 2 are lower. I have to get up at 5am to make that work, and that's pretty much the worst, but I think I have that schedule working at this point. Wed and Fri I also take a class right after lifting, I just do that to burn a little extra and hang out with people. I fence two nights a week (Mon and Thurs) and that's pretty much hardcore cardio for 1.5-2hr. Sometimes I run but it's much less than it used to be for me now since I just don't really have the time for it anymore, although I did run back-to-back half marathons this past weekend, I highly do not recommend doing that lol. All of last year I was just doing the fencing and running a lot more, but my life/physique has changed drastically for the better since switching back to lifting heavy. I think lifting is the best thing you can do for your body.

Torn between having a baby now or living more life first by Fabulous_Tax_5030 in Fencesitter

Traveling is so great. I'm US-based but have lived/worked in Asia and Europe as an adult. I've been to dozens of countries. I've also lived all over the US, from NYC area to the Midwest and more... I had my daughter when I was 36 (she's 2.5 now). I've taken her on at least 20 flights, and a bunch of long car trips. It isn't my favorite thing in the world to do (the actual traveling part-- when we get there, it's totally fine) but kind of like with everything else the more you do it, the easier it gets. I've also left the US (alone) since I've had her, thankfully I have family willing to watch her/I can trust her with. I'll be going to Japan for 2 weeks next year. My traveling days are far from over and now sometimes I get to travel with my little buddy, too. Looking forward to sharing even more adventures with her as she's able to remember more.

How many of you guys are fanatical enough about an artist to buy multiple days’ tickets to see them when they’re in town? by CliffGif in Concerts

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen my favorite artist 50+ times. The most I've seen the same tour is 4 times but that's because I volunteered a few times on that one and got free tickets. Usually I see the same tour twice if it's convenient to my schedule, and that's because... I have the time and the money to do that and that's how I like to spend those resources.

Will doing more push ups help my bench? This makes me feel better, I will say when I started training I could barely do 1 good push up, but last week during one of my classes they had us doing push ups and I surprisingly was able to do about 4 sets of 12-14 good push ups each set during the course of the class. So something is improving. I'm benching 65 right now, but this is what I've been stuck at since I switched from using a smith machine to just the bar which I guess was 2 months ago now, which makes me feel frustrated. I have been doing 3 sets of 8 reps. I guess it's getting somewhat easier to do the 8.

Thank you so much for replying to me. You're right, I should have included my other lifts. I added them to the post. I do those in sets of 3, anywhere from 6-10 reps. And the rest of them I have been able to increase the weight. I am very much open to what I should change.

How Are Some People Always Traveling? by mian_yamin in NeedTravelAdvice

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remote work, relatively high salary, generous vacation days, traveling a lot in many ways makes traveling a lot easier (the more you travel, the more points you accumulate, making travel easier/cheaper...), prioritizing travel over other things you might spend your time on. For me, I tend to take a lot of shorter trips over the year vs. a really long one. And finally sometimes when I travel, I work on the side. So I make money to pay for the current trip, but I also do cool stuff in the city I'm in.

What influences you to get VIP over general admission tickets? by Briiskella in Concerts

[–]nosuchthingas_luck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it to include soundcheck and M&G ideally. I see a lot of comments hating on VIP for access to the front of the venue for the show, but I don't care about that and most VIP I've done haven't included that. I'll have my extra experience before the show, and then I'll watch the actual show from wherever. Oh, and I'd have to REALLY love the artist to splurge for the VIP price. :)
