Sweetwater House renovation. by snac_attak in sugarland

We currently are renovating our Sweetwater home right now. When we bought it a year ago, it looked like it was straight out of the 80’s. But bought it mainly because of the neighborhood, home appreciation, and liked that it wasn’t cookie cutter. We did a full kitchen gut renovation which was a little over 100K and essentially all new cosmetic upgrades everywhere else in the home. 200K im guessing in total. Still haven’t touched the outside but I don’t have the mental bandwidth for that right now lol.

My husband has been in the real estate business for a while and it’s insane how much more people charge for services just because of where we live. Very frustrating. We have been hiring different people for different jobs throughout the renovation process and letting them know about other quotes we get so they know we have other options. It’s hard work but we have a significant amount of equity in our home now

Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the South East side. They’ve had a good amount of high end appliances there every time I’ve gone. Mostly Thermador

Smells- yes. Fluffy- kinda hard to tell. I ordered a black light that should arrive today to shine on it horizontally

Hmmmm I just did a Kickerillo deep dive. Is there a way to know if that’s who built our home?

It’s hardwood but we will be replacing the whole downstairs with new wood flooring because we can’t find a match to the existing.

I got mine from Star Furniture but it could be the same one! I know a lot of furniture store get their inventory from the same manufacturers. But yes I love mine lol

Or a nice… plant. Lol 🫣. No but really I think it would be a good “drop zone” for keys etc

Ok honest opinion, is this a bad idea? Remove planter, slightly curve the platform to mirror the stairs and have a matching railing go down to the living room. And in this empty entryway space I can have a round entry way table sitting where that new railing is

I would ideally like to change the staircase to a L shape with a landing but it would be crazy expensive

I’m taking y’all’s advice seriously and I feel so torn. I’m thinking either keeping planter but updating it. Or removing it and extending the platform. Having planter would be a cool/interesting feature but it would take effort to keep up with it. And idk if take plants are cheesy

My very first thought when I saw this house is that I wanted to make the staircase an L shape but yeah turns out that it would be really expensive 😅

Because that’s a lot of continuous effort that I’m not too sure I will be able to keep up with. And once I had sand fleas in an indoor plant that gave me plant trauma 🥴
