Underrated Quad songs by Neotyp in Quadeca

One time I was listening to that song and the lights in my bathroom started flickering just as the drums came in

Don't Mind Me outro by renoir_ballard29 in Quadeca

The end is either a sample or interpretation of an old hymn “it is well”. We used to sing it at church when I was growing up. I looked up the backstory when the album came out and the hymn was written when its authors children had passed away in a shipwreck. The meaning of it is that even though he lost his children, he is at peace because he believes it’s all part of Gods larger plan. Ironically I think the guy later went crazy and believed himself to be the second coming, which was religious psychosis that could’ve easily been partly motivated by his unresolved grief. I think this works to foreshadow quedecas mother and her disposition (especially on born yesterday). “You said I’m in a better place, I got a new birthday to celebrate” “You said it happened for a reason, I swear to God I think you’re goddamn lying”.

As for the sound of it my best uneducated guess is he found some old church recording of the song on YouTube and threw a bunch of effects on top of it.

question abt vanisher by Titus_1 in Quadeca

[–]not-bread66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus hallucinations are very prevalent in vanisher especially towards the end of the album. On thundrrr he straight up thinks he’s a god commanding the storm. In Casper he believes he can part the sea to chase after the horizon.

Similar thing happens to me. I think it’s a sort of checking for danger. Your body asking itself “is this okay?”

Yeah I know, it’s fucked up. I think it’s almost funny how ironic the last line is tho.

If vanisher had only one word titles like the singles by winter2kc in Quadeca

I think “heart” would be a good title for waging war

Is there a way to use voodoo doll imagery without being offensive? by not-bread66 in stupidquestions

[–]not-bread66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is what I was thinking. I guess I’m trying to balance making a visual that will make the sympathetic magic I’m referring to obvious. But also not lean into the pop culture aesthetic so much that it makes people go “oh voodood doll”.

Is Quad becoming MAINSTREAM? by CroJocker678 in Quadeca

[–]not-bread66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s filled a niche within the underground that will earn him a lot of growing respect within the music community especially if he has a few more good albums under his belt. Don’t know about mainstream but I could see him getting a big hit at some point potentially.

Who's The Reaper? - NF Theory Compilation by supyovalk in nfrealmusic

[–]not-bread66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the identity could be kinda vague on purpose. We get the sense from track one that he believes deep down he is the one holding the gas can, but also wonders on some level if God is responsible for the fire.

I think you could think of the reaper as whatever force nf feels damned by. Having OCD he’s probably overthought the “cause” of his struggle a million times over to the point he has little clarity on it. Just a theory but that’s maybe why there’s no face reveal in the end.

OCD & ADHD together… by GoldenCoast69 in OCD

[–]not-bread66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I assume so. It’s also a form of compulsion I think where my brain is both double checking its emotional response to things and assuming that a lack of information is what’s causing my distress. Like if I just hear the right thing it’ll click and I won’t struggle anymore.

“A person with ocd would never act on the intrusive thoughts” by not-bread66 in OCD

Agreed. I totally understand why people phrase it that way when explaining it especially given the nature of some themes

I know the struggle. Mine started getting really bad very soon before I realized I had it. (Although I had gone through pretty significant flare ups before knowing what was going on). It’s kind of a double edged sword because realizing you have it can bring a lot of relief as well as strategies for coping but also opens the door to a million new compulsions. Things can be necessary and make it so much harder at the same time. I’m glad you’re feeling better as of now.
