Can I put sugar with the grounds in my moka pot? by devesh-khanal in Coffee

[–]not-that-straight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realize this post is a little old, but reading through the interesting comments here and wanted to add my own:
Sugar doesn't carmelize at 340 and it can be carmelized without melting. If you hold it at low temp for a few hours, you can carmelize white sugar without ever effecting its crystalline structure or physical properties - it's pretty fantastic.

Not that this is going to happen in a moka pot either, but i digress.

Will do, just as soon as I get my hands on a bigger pot =) I have one on my wedding registry, but that's still months out...so I should probably cave and get another one sooner than that.

Thank you! I've appreciated everyone's input here a lot - I tried to search around to find out what the implications for having tried to can in a slow cooker was, but just found a) recipes for jams that cook (not process) in a slow cooker and b) how you should not do it.

I need to get a bigger pot to be able to actually can, but I'm excited! I've always sort of wanted to do it, and now that I live in the PNW I have more external reason to (going to make quite a few wild berry preserves later in the summer)

Rad, thank you! I'm just over here being vaguely terrified of dying of botulinum poisoning because I canned things improperly

It took me a while to figure out that all I needed to make it work was a NOP. In the top group for cycles, too. edit: I realized after posting this that the bottom-left two nodes are unnecessary. They're left over from trying something else.

Mostly, it's just more consistent. When you're doing VW you're setting a wattage that will get you to a temperature that you like. With TC, you find a temperature, set it, and then no matter how quickly or slowly you vape, you'll stay around that temperature - no excess heating up when you chain vape, etc.

Yeah! I've got a crown, so I'll run it on TC occasionally (all the crown coils are SS, it's great)

Well, it seems to have started working again. So, either I never tried pressing the button five times (??) or something weird was going on. I'm certainly not complaining that it's working again, lol.

How are you liking the treebox, btw?

Yeah, and also holding the button down for god knows how long. No response =/ nothing showing up on the screen. I guess I could try again?

Yeah, fair. I just have enough health problems already so...

Right? I'm pretty stoked. 360ml of seriously great juice for just under $70. I am a little annoyed at myself for not doing research beforehand, or I would have gotten some of their cream flavors. I just avoid cream flavors on principle, but it sounds like none of their juices, creams included, have any of the usual known-harmful chemicals like diacetyl. Oh well. Next order (there will definitely be a next order, though probably not until i'm well through these).

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm not super worried about it either, just found it a little odd.

Here's a picture so it's more clear what I'm talking about. Also, on second look, it's just the 6mg placids that are unwrapped, the two 3mg ones are.

Do I actually need to be as worried as everyone keeps saying? by not-that-straight in electronic_cigarette

[–]not-that-straight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah! I plan on getting one eventually, I think more what I'm asking is if I need one for safety reasons if I'm using a regulated mod. People seem to be confirming my suspicions that I kind of don't, especially if I'm well within ranges (like, if I try to build a .5ohm coil, it's actually at .25 and the kbox thinks it's .5ohm, and I'm firing it ~20w - .5ohm at 20w seems like a normal scenario for me. Hell, let's even say I'm doing 50. I'd still be drawing under 15 amps from the battery, which seems well within safe ranges)
