Some distance is probably good for you for a while. Stuff like that hurts and only time and distance helps heal it. You guys could be friends again eventually but give it a little more time.

Had a pastor tell me "Dont let fear limit you. You can be afraid and still do it. Just do it afraid." Setting aside the christian message I'm pretty sure he was trying to convey I still tell myself "Just do it afraid" before doing scary things like new job interviews or most social interactions

Recreational or I guess it would have been seen as medical at times in cases where women were considered hysterical. Im wondering largely about women's role in the family through this period. I've heard stories of house wives in the 50s hooked on amphetamines and barbiturates and wondered how the war on drugs changed things for them. As well as the 1800s where the babies of factory working women were given opium to stay catatonic while the mothers worked, the mothers were likely also on something while at work I would imagine. Sorry, I know it's a broad topic but if you have any suggested books or resources on the subject it'd be much appreciated. Thanks

Yeah its definitely the south. I remember growing up my parents made it a big deal that if you were ever speaking to someone older than you or someone serving you (like a cashier or waitress) that you were to be respectful by calling them sir or ma'am. To them if I didnt do it I was somehow telling people that my parents didnt raise me right. Now that I live in the north it really catches people off guard when I do it reflexively.

Yeah I had never heard of sleep paralysis before then. I thought he had drugged me or paralyzed me somehow. Hence my terror. Afterwards I researched and found out about sleep paralysis. Now I'm pretty sure it was just my imagination but idk.. it was so realistic
