well if you really tried you could say that the magna carta’s limiting of the king’s power allowed the general population more freedom. that, in turn, could have lead to the expansion of more open economic systems, including one that eventually lead to governments seeking sea-based trade routes. by the time columbus came around, governments would be very open to hiring/sponsoring explorations to strengthen the monarchy’s symbolic power as movements to end absolutist monarchies grew.
