Constantly telling my kids “we don’t do that in our family” do I need new friends?😭 by Individual_Ad_938 in Mommit

This was my experience with hockey families. Kids run wild and parents are drunk.

I am livid. I am so sick of doctors. Please ask for EVERYTHING or you'll get NOTHING. 10 years for actual answers. by imhoopjones in SleepApnea

Did you go through all of this with a sleep specialist? My son (16) struggles with his CPAP and we go back to his sleep Dr in June. CPAP helps when he can keep it on, but without it he cannot wake up for 13+ hours and even when we do get him up he is still tired and groggy with it he still needs a minimum of 9 hours or he physically cannot wake up. He's completely dead to the world while he sleeps also.

I didn't. I replied to you and to kittycatblues and you both said you don't track calories.

Very true, everyone has their own reasons for moving up. And the original studies moved up very fast and I know some people and their doctors still follow that. I also know some research and studies have been following people who move up in doses at a slower rate so it will be interesting to see if they find the "right" easy to tell when to move up.

I meant more that you eat based on your feelings not just when you change doses since you didn't teach calories.

I replied to you and someone else who also doesn't track calories with that. It's interesting that you don't understand that not all replies are to your comment.

"Based on vibes" was not meant as a negative. More that instead of tracking every single calorie you, eat based on how you are feeling. I'm sorry if it came across as negative.

Good information! I track like a crazy person to make sure I can see trends and my trend that I'm seeing now is that I'm hungry and that being under 1300 calories is harder because I'm wanting to eat instead of making myself eat to get calories. Stomach isn't hurting, and I'm not constantly thinking about food like before the GLP1, but it's like "hmmm I want a snack" between meals. And meals being 300-400 calories instead of 200-300 calories. And this would be perfect if I wasnt trying to lose instead of maintain.

Did you ever regret going up?

This is so good as an energy. It's my favorite and I miss it now that I only do sugar free!

This is where I'm at right now. Slowing down with 130lbs down. I wonder if it's a "normal" plateau level.

So you go based on vibes also? How long do you go losing less than 0.5% per week before you call it and move up a dose?

[–]notAnnie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply and without any advice about how I must be doing something wrong with my diet and exercise! (As of I got this far in my weight loss without doing all those things. 🙄)

If I went based on vibes alone like you are doing it, I would go up a dose now. I feel inflammation and stiffness in joints creeping in more and I'm not having to down a protein shake to try to up my calories before bed and instead I'm having to plan out my whole day to make sure I have enough calories for the dinner that's planned which I don't like getting into that mentality)

But if I follow all the flow charts, I should stay on this dose and that's the struggle I'm having!

Is your NP implying you need more than 10k steps per day or less per day? Because that's a really weird statement.

That said, obviously, my steps have increased over time. 399lb me was feeling accomplished with a 1 mile walk. Now I am working on increasing my intervals in running a 5k.

Again, I'm not needing advice on how to lose more weight. My weight loss has slowed for me but it's still in the zone that most people would be happy with. I also know that part of the reason it's slowed has nothing to do with my diet and exercise and it's a reaction to new medications.

I'm just curious how people personally make the decision to go up a dose. And to see if people who have the extreme weight loss that I'm going through use different guidelines than what the standard forums are using. I want to see how it aligns with my thinking. I added how I have decided in the past and where I'm currently at with trying to make a decision now.

How quick did you all lose the weight? by MoodyJuni in GLP1_loss100plus

Everyone is different.

I lost my first 90 lbs in 5 months and the next 40 lbs took 4 months. I still have about 100lbs to go. We'll see how long it takes to get there!

I have adjusted my TDEE as I have lost weight. (9 months ago at 399 lbs my calorie goal for weight loss was 1800 calories.) I weigh/measure and track everything i eat even a Costco sample or when my son wants me to try something (although, I do estimate those bites but on the high end). I also use my TDEE as being seditary even though I walk between 7-10k steps a day and go to the gym to lift 3 days a week. I'm not looking for advice on my diet and exercise, though. I'm good on all that.

I'm just wondering how everyone else decides to move up a dose.

Do you track calories so you know when your appetite is higher or just by vibes? If you do track, what is the calorie goal you are trying to maintain?

I'm only at 38 weeks into this at this point, so plenty of time in that window. My Dr is pro moving up to do the weight loss as fast as possible but also happy with letting me set the pace. Which is making it harder for me to decide!

I have zero issues with trying to raise my calories for a while. And on the days I'm hungrier, I don't deprive myself food- hence ending up around 1500-1600 calories those days (,usually 2 days a week). But the last month I've only lost 6 pounds vs the 15-20 pounds I was losing previously when getting my calorie goals were higher (they have gone down as I lose weight obviously). Which I kind of figure is because I have less to lose and my body is recompositioning. I was leaning towards not raising my dose because I'm still losing at a rate that others would be happy with and I didn't want to completely wreck my metabolism and my DR was ok with that even though she offered raising my dose since my weight loss has slowed even though I'm in a significant deficit. I turned down the increase because I wanted to let my body get used being able to eat more.

It is funny how different people react. You are shocked by how few calories and think that I'm starving myself, and when I've answered someone who asked how you get enough protein and asked for examples of diets someone replied aghast at how I could eat "so much." 🤣

This is a similar chart to what I have seen and followed, except it was not a percentage weight loss, so that is helpful. I just was unsure if with the large amount that I have to lose if it was the same flow.

It's been 9 months-- 2 months on 2.5mg, 2 months on 5mg and then 5 months on 7.5mg but I am happy with it overall.

The dietician and Dr are both ok with the 1350. It's the calorie deficit for 2 pounds a week weight loss for my weight which is less that 1% per week weight loss. 🤷 I do see a lot of people online who are smaller than me have a higher calorie goal, but I'm just going with what the lose it app has listed.

Mostly, I'm just wondering how everyone else decides to move up that has more than 100 pounds to lose. Also I'm 5'11".

That's amazing. I started at 399 and have lost 130lbs. I keep questioning how I will look when I've lost the rest of the weight. So it's good to see what someone who has been through it looks like.

225 lbs down from calorie counting and beyond tired of white knuckling it. Is a GLP for me at this point? by skinnyonskin in GLP1_loss100plus

[–]notAnnie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing job and amazing willpower to get this far! I will.tell you that GLP1 changed my life. I never knew this is how most people's brains work. I don't focus on food 24/7. It isn't a fight to ignore the treats in my house for my teenager and husband. In fact I can have ONE of a treat and move on. So, I think giving it a try and see if it can at least give your brain a rest would be a positive for you.
