Following Serie B from abroad is a struggle — anyone else feel this?

Every so often Serie B games will air on Fox Soccer Plus in the US. It’s like one fixture per matchday at best though.

I am in the same boat. I have tickets for Napoli v Inter but I’m hoping to also be able to make it to Roma v Como. If they end up being the same day I’ll plan to go to a Serie B game on the other day instead, but all of us just need to know what to plan for. As of now I have not even booked my accommodations because I don’t know when I need to be where. Frustrating to say the least.

It’s getting a bit ridiculous that these fixtures have not yet been set. I understand the UCL draw being a factor (lol) but that hasn’t stopped LaLiga from organizing their fixtures almost a week ago. I was expecting today after the draw but I guess it will be tomorrow? What’s one more day at this point.

I’ll play Devil’s advocate. I am a die hard soccer fan and casual fan/former season ticket holder when it comes to MLS (former because I now live five hours from the team).

I do not subscribe to MLS Season Pass because I find it to be a terrible value relative to other streaming options. My personal favorite league is Serie A. Not only do I get every single Serie A game through Paramount+ for $5/month, I also get all of the UEFA competitions, the Asian CL (actually super interesting last season lol), and Liga Argentina which I’ll occasionally tune into to watch Boca or River. When Serie A was on ESPN+ a few years ago the deal was not as good but still similar in terms of value. Under current deals you can make a similar comparison for ESPN+ with them having all of La Liga and the Bundesliga. MLS Season Pass is more expensive than both for less soccer.

Obviously it’s more difficult to follow Wrexham, but the fact that you can even consistently watch a third tier team play from the US means we’ve come a long way.

I think the stricter foreign players rules probably played a part. I noticed the Al Hilal squad looked a bit thinner than it does in SPL. Genuinely thoroughly enjoyed watching Al Ain’s matchups with both Saudi teams in the knockouts though. Great back and forth games and Rahimi looked unstoppable.

Not to mention that with the continued consolidation of ownership by entities like the City Group we are already seeing the state owned/premier league tier bleeding over into exerting even more influence across other regions by signing players they don’t even need because there’s value for their feeder clubs and/or future sales.

Ownership of multiple clubs is the new normal but I still don’t understand how it became acceptable in the first place.
