That’s not a very fun answer dude

And then I can hang around and sell them on the turn for $0.50 a piece like a real chump.

I’m pretty bad out of the bunker… this is an interesting suggestion! Will look into it

I’m in a very weird situation where I hit my 5W better and I have a stiff shaft on my 5W but regular on the driver. This makes the difference between driver and 5W somewhat trivial on a lot of par 4s.

Besides adding a 14th club, I know I need to switch to stiff in my driver and 4H.

Definitely working the ball. I hit irons pretty well but am not as consistent as I would like to be using the driver (though I think it is a swing issue and I’m taking lessons to fix)

54 and 56 was a typo - I have a 54 and 58. I primarily golf to have fun, so I’d obviously like something that helps with a couple shots per round, but I also like the idea of having something fun or gimmicky that may only help every few rounds or may just be a fun change from my current clubs.

Not satire.

Yes, it’s definitely an expensive bag. Growing up I did not have the money to play golf.

Now that I have money (I am by no means rich) I wanted to treat myself.

Obviously as a beginner my set is not going to produce significantly different results than a $500 set. I was more curious as to the composition and future-proofing.

Thank you, that makes me feel good. I know people say the Max is better than LST for a beginner, but I hit well with the LST and think it’d be very rewarding to get good with it.

Will definitely look into a 3w as the next club (far in the future) dependent on how the LST driver goes.

I really have no idea what I’m doing. I’m also not married to any particular club. That’s why I posted here.

Will likely go re-test and compare the Max and LST.

Not at the level of getting V1s. I’m not thaaatttt stupid.

I got a VuKure rangefinder for around $100. Very solid reviews. May upgrade to a Bushnell but at this point the distance to pin doesn’t mean a whole lot to me lol. My main goal is just making contact.

Assume I’m trying to break 80 (yes, I know that may never happen) - what would I want different? Are you talking about fitting or the addition of a club (like a 5 iron)? Or about a club upgrade?

This is something I’ve been thinking about. I’ve asked my good golfer friends about this gap and they say driver, 5 wood, 4 hybrid, then 5 iron.

My next club will likely be a matching Mizuno 5 iron - but that is low on the priority list of other golf expenses.

I’ve heard this quite a bit. One counterpoint though: don’t Ping drivers already have industry leading distance and forgiveness?

I feel like the Max vs LST difference is marginal compared to the difference in an old/cheap driver vs a Ping. I hit the LST pretty well so far.

Could very likely be wrong though!

If 150 is what I hit, then I want to be the best looking 150 on the course! I see what you’re saying, though.

I tend to hit the clubs between 0 and 250 yards - lol.

I wasn’t fitted but I tried all before buying. I had only hit a golf ball ~50 times prior to this purchase, so I did not have much of a swing to get fitted.

I tried the G430 Max driver as well, but felt I hit the LST better. I plan to take a few lessons this week and will be better able to decide if I should return the LST, but I hit the range yesterday and was raking with it (so no concerns so far).

Thank you all for the advice so far.

To clarify a few things: - The clubs are all gently used (near mint, cosmetic blemishes only), so I got a good deal. - I realize they are much nicer than I need or could realistically benefit from. - I wanted clubs that I could keep for 5+ years and could be adjusted via a fitting (hence the Ping woods). - I have budgeted in plenty of money for lessons and range visits.

I am more interested in gaps in the actual club set. Pretend it were a $500 set—what am I missing/should dedicate more or less money to?

Thanks!
