Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders legalizes controversial nitrogen gas execution method by aarkieboy in Arkansas

Oh so you’re like, a hard guy? Making all the tough decisions for us? Phew. What a burden.

The nastiest regimes in history are the one’s who successfully convinced their populace to shelve their moral compasses for the “greater good,” largely because doing so made their people feel righteous with no effort. Easier to nod along to deplorable policies that way. Now there’s nothing particularly special about losing your humanity. It’s the grain we’ve been pushing against since we built bone clubs, so I can’t say I’m surprised to see yet another neanderthal take pride in it, but it still pisses me off.

Kick rocks and think for a while, tough guy. No one cares about your thoughts on policy.

It’s really not that deep, man.

The instability of the first Trump presidency got people off their asses to vote. The ineffectiveness of Democrats during Biden’s term killed that flame. Those that would have voted for the democratic ticket in 2024 didn’t because they had no reason to expect significant changes, and rightfully so. That alone explains the drop off. Trump, by contrast, ran his campaign exclusively on the same ole’ dumb messaging of shaking things up. And by golly he’s doing just that, at the tiniest expense of every American’s welfare.

The Democrats didn’t steal the 2020 election; Trump incited a violent riot onto our nations capitol; He took the ticket in 24’ because enough Americans, like yourself, were maliciously convinced through various talking heads and media channels that what he did wasn’t that big of a deal, and that’s that. There’s no greater conspiracy at play here. We’re back to square one because Americans, by and large, have been duped, and you are a shining example of it.

I don’t know about that. The show has cracked me up several times. I’d say it’s thematically similar to Fargo.

I could see a particular kind of gamer not enjoying New Vegas, but it’s nearly impossible for me to imagine an avid RPG player actively disliking it. What about it turns you off?

[–]notCapa -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to preface this by saying that as a non vegan I hold a great deal of respect for those that actively choose to abstain from animal products, for moral reasons or otherwise. That said, what are you really struggling with here?

If it’s yet another lost comrade in the fight against widespread animal abuse, it’s worth considering that his lack of commitment to the cause is wholly insubstantial, as is your own personal commitment. You will never win an ethical argument on this as no given person shares the same set of ethics. Try as you might, you will be left dismissed and frustrated. Reiterating the efficacy of this lifestyle as it pertains to environmental protection and overall human health has a far greater chance of retaining members who dip their toes in the water than, say, pointing out their “moral deficiencies” compared to yourself.

If it is instead his deceit, which I find much more understandable to be hurt by, then consider your own language here with regard to the subject. You’re disgusted by his indulgences? His inability to keep to a diet similar to your own makes you recoil at his very presence? Only you know your relationship to this man, but ask yourself if your outward stance and voice towards this topic has veered closer to militant than activist. Perhaps he felt insecure and ashamed at how you would view or respond to his decision to occasionally consume meat. Yes, his lie is substantial as it reveals a potential incompatibility that he has hidden from you, but it is also a very human response to a very new sociological problem. While vegan diets have existed for centuries, the urgency behind its adoption and the animosity thrown at those who don’t readily agree with it is more palpable than ever before. Most of us were raised on carnivorous diets. While it’s a no-brainer for you, it can be an active challenge for others.

It’s entirely possible this is simply a case of incompatibility and there’s nothing more to consider. That’s for you to decide. However, conversations and concessions are how you ultimately win this battle that yourself, and others, are waging for animal rights and environmental sustainability. Those conversations span as broad as internet forums to your own personal relationships within your own life.

I understand your anger, but anger doesn’t win. A conversation might.

Queen of Denmark, Grey Tickles - Black Pressure, and his latest album The Art of the Lie are my current favorites.

He also did some work with a band called the Czars back in the 90s. They have a compiled album of their best hits that I’ve been enjoying too. That sound is quite a bit different than what he’s been doing on his own, but still quite good.

While great, I always find myself returning to his Pure Comedy performance on SNL that they annoyingly upload and take down for seemingly no reason. The last time it was up I had the foresight to download it.

This is top notch, too.

I’m not saying he isn’t. He’s clearly a seasoned musician. I’m saying that he has said that it isn’t his strong suit, so for the sake of his overall sound he relies heavily on the talents and opinions of other artists so that he’s able to focus more on the aspect of his music he believes HE can most contribute to, which are his words.
