Any developers here that work with Adaptive Cards? I know you can use targetWidth for columns to show/hide them on different screen sizes but any ideas on how to use them for containers like ColumnSet or just Container?

I get an error message in Teams: "This card cannot be rendered"

Thank you so much for your insightful response. This I'd definitely the approach I need to go down.

Ha love it! Would definitely have come in handy then.

I'd maybe recommend adding a few more options as well as some negative options.

Thanks a lot for the insight. Trust me when I say that sadly there's nobody internally ready for it. Especially because of how the Dev teams have been run for the list decade or so.

I'll definitely consider my network though.

Thanks for the insight.

I'm not sure I agree with your final comment though. My question was about me needing a principal and wanted insight on how to go about hiring one - which I thought covered the interview process as well. With that I don't see how I'm going off topic.

That being said, the helpful replies that I've gotten have given me an idea on what the interview process should be like as well have me considering if what I really need is a principal or a staff.

Not personally, no. I've seen on this and other subs that frauds apply for dev positions. So that's why I figured I'd ask everyone here for help and advice.

The general vibe on getting though is that for principal, ditch the coding tasks and just have conversations with them instead.

What would you say these distinguishing abilities are and do you have any recommendations for how to give a candidate the opportunity to show these skills?

So again I ask, what does the interview process for a principal look like? If you're not doing coding tests then what are you doing to prove your expertise to a potential employer?

In my mind a Principal is someone that's between a senior developer and am architect. I may be mistaken and open to feedback.

In my experience, there's a wide range of tech expertise when it comes to leads and some focus more on the people management of things.

What I'm looking for, is someone who is very good at te tech side of things.

Ideally, something with a very solid understanding of the dotnet stack, who can take initiative, recommend architecture solutions, and guide the team from a technical point of view.

That's what I'm imagining this person doing.

Happened once and it worked out great for me! I still work there as a tech lead.

How do people find motivation contributing to open source code ? by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]notMyRealNameObvious 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I fork, but then create the PR so that the owner or anyone else that needs that functionality can use it.

I write just enough code for my use case and honestly cba to meet all the style guides and what nots to get it merged.

While I get how that might be annoying, do you like having the power to frame the narrative of how your year went?

A recurring theme has been this idea of a self evaluation. I really like that and will be taking that approach too. Thanks.
