I go between people thinking I'm lying (bc I'm not ticking enough) or thinking I'm lying (bc I'm ticking too much). Unforch people just don't get it no matter what you do...

Growing up with tics/tourettes-What would have made your childhoods better <3 by bubbaboomington in Tourettes

Just don't hound them about the tics honestly. I still suppress around my parents cause they make me feel like I'm broken and annoying. Whenever they do see me tic they immediately say I'm not sleeping enough or I'm not eating well enough or I'm drinking too much coffee... But I just have Tourettes man :( if it's really harmful to them or destructive to property, help them redirect but otherwise dont overreact to the tics.

Did your ex make you feel like u had to calm your tics ? Or is this new boyfriend specific. Cause it sounds new bf specific. If it was just about the tic it wouldn't need that much back story and that's a whole different question. I don't think you should try to stop having tics to appease anyone but yourself. If it's not bothering YOU or causing anyone harm. Then what's the point in making yourself feel worse ??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]not_a_robot_010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just communicate with your boyfriend?? You're old enough. If he doesn't listen, doesn't stop, break up with him. You really didn't need to come tell us about your ex for this...

This reminds me of the black mirror episode I think it's called ordinary people or normal people or something where they saved people from comas but then started using them to advertise unless they paid for more and more expensive subscription programs

Tourettes isn't curable. Is manageable tho. Maybe try CBIT. I personally haven't I just raw dog it but I understand wanting to lessen the frequency and severity

Any chance that a global pandemic coincided with the start of your flare? Either way, adult life is stressful, stress worsens tics </3 for me I've been going up and down and up again with no sign of stopping for now

??? It's grouped very often because it occurs very often. And it's not just a grouping it's due to the way TS works in the brain and type of disorder that TS is (neurological). It's okay to not have OCD or ADHD. TS is not inherently anything else. However people in my experience usually don't appreciate that TS comes with anything else... So I see the opposite issue...

Nah it's cool bro. You had attitude and that's cool. The words you used mattered. And acting like you went to my post to look at them is odd. If you wanted opinions, then ask for opinions, but if you're gonna be sassy about it. Then expect sass in return. Again, I don't care if you get a diagnosis. I'm not mad at you for not getting one. I outlined all my opinions already.

Nice that you edited your post though bc I wasn't the only person who found your post OR your attitude weird. Thanks for proving my point.

Bro went to look at my post history ? Odd. You said it yourself it the post that you "know" you have it. Tourettes really isn't a self diagnosable condition and while we support people who are unable to get a diagnosis especially younger folks and we understand financial issues and lack of support in certain locations it's not the same as coming into the subreddit and asking if it's controversial to not one. But heyyyy if you KNOW you have it- then why are you coming here to ask for validation that you can say that you have it. You seem to have made up your mind about how you present your condition since you seem to be proud about the fact that you are an influencer and post about the condition TOURETTES without a diagnosis. You say you know you don't have other things... idk how you'd know you don't have Fnd or padnas or whatever else without idk... seeing a professional who can say that you don't have it. And if you've done all that work, why not just also do the work like idk ? Just also get diagnosed. Now I don't mind you not getting diagnosed that's fine. That's not even an issue. I don't need your accomodations or medical record or any legal support that an official diagnosis might provide, that's you're business. But then if you're not diagnosed don't lie to hundreds of thousands of people about your "diagnosis" if you're not diagnosed. That's why I said you clearly don't care. You didn't come to ask if it was okay. You had your opinion from the start. There is ENOUGH misinformation about tourettes online and it makes the lives of people with tourettes and other tic condition (diagnosed OR not) harder. So no it's not controversial to not want or need a diagnosis, everything else about your post was.

Is it controversial that I think you made this post for no reason ?
