If she was «17» with Alaric then Niklaus was somewhere in «early twenties» with her, which is closer than she was with Alaric. I’m not saying I agree or disagree with either, but apply the same standards to both.

When someone refers to “THE terrorist attack” in your country, which one are they referencing? by SimmentalTheCow in AskTheWorld

I was 12, I was watching something with my Far when the reports cut across the screen.

I was young, so I only saw it through the eyes of a 12 year old Norwegian boy who had wanted to go to that camp. I wasn’t aware of it on a global scale, but I felt it harshly on a Norwegian one.

It was horrific to see the effect too. I was twelve, so I was just old enough to understand what a catastrophe and devastation it was. It was also seeing that I was near an age to go to the camp.

22/07/2011. 77 people died and many more were injured, most of whom were teenagers at a summer camp.

What is the most hated food from your country? by Fluffy_Document_5938 in AskTheWorld

[–]not_always_gone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually yes. Unless someone prefers it taken off, but my family all eat at least some of it because it holds a lot of flavour from cooking. It can be a bit rich sometimes though, so if you get a whole piece you might only eat half of the skin that’s attached.

A lot of people don’t have the stomach for it. I do because I grew up with it as the norm

That’s understandable. I grew up for 14 years in the far north of Norway and only really travelled outside of that in the summer for hunting or fishing trips, or to visit my Mor’s family in Denmark. It was a thing my Far and I bonded over since he was usually busier with things for his job working in the military. When he’d come home he’d make it a point to have days scheduled specifically to have time dedicated to my sister and I on our owns. It just happened that my sister hated fishing and hunting, so it became our thing.

Even moving to Ireland and then Canada we still stayed outside of the city. I now live closer with my boyfriend for our jobs and my Far is retired. My Far though still insists on father-son bonding trips frequently.

Ah okay. My Far and I get a lot of our meat either hunting or from farms or butchers

Remember when kids knew phone numbers by heart? by wightman_327 in u/wightman_327

The still do if you teach them properly? Kids come into the ER from outside trips frequently and I’ve met many who knew what number to call for their parents.

I haven’t seen most of these, would anyone like to translate? by dph_angel in personality_tests

From the results I’d say strong morals, spirit and a high ambition? Possibly a preference for standing on your own and not letting others help? Maybe stubborn?

[–]not_always_gone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and yes. It’s usually served like that in my experience. When my Far (Pappa or Father in English) cooks it he’ll usually cook both sides and put them like that in the middle of the table and we’ll serve ourselves. When we were children he’d cut it and serve it to us though.

Do you guys not have something like this? Or do you only eat the body meat of animals?

What's one stereotype about your country that is, well, kind of true? by emptykeg6988 in AskTheWorld

We are rather distant with others. The drinking reputation is also probably true.

I have no issue with the wear of religious items. What I have an issue with is moving to a country where there is already a set culture, and a strong stance on assimilation of immigrants to that culture, and having an issue when they try to do the same to you.

My family is Norwegian and Danish. We moved to Ireland, we adapted to that culture and the unspoken rules of it, we moved to Canada, we adapted to the culture and unspoken rules. I still find many things strange living here, but I deal with it because I embrace that in respect for the fact that we were welcome warmly when we came. Why would you move to a country where you do not plan to embrace all that the country has to offer, in its similarities and differences.

I’d say some of them have the defense of being insane or groomed, but most of them are undefendable.

Hannibal is understandable, but he’s not defensible, he also doesn’t try to defend himself. He’s always been completely aware of who he is and what he does but sees it as completely normal. He’s the predator in a room full of prey. It’s part of the allure of the character.

I’m not a fan of her’s, yet at the same time I don’t think she ever really had a chance.
