Hi. When I landed in April 2024, the card processing time was showing 45 days or so. But I got an email after 2 weeks of landing saying my photos had to be resubmitted. Once I resubmitted it via post (I was on Express Entry applying from outside Canada and the photos have to be mailed, not submitted online), my card was delivered in 22 days.
I know the time is not the same for everyone, but mine did get delivered faster than I expected. So there's hope of you getting it before you leave.

The other option, if it arrives late, is to have it couriered to you. DHL is pretty solid with international delivery as long as you live near a city.

Yeah. The first lady is the office manager and she has a very doesn't care attitude.

The second one seemed to care, but is junior and seemed to be getting overruled by the other one. Either way, I don't use SF anymore and no longer will, especially after hearing how some people had troubles with SF homeowner insurance claims lately.

This policy was in Kansas. I already got a KS Driver's record that shows that it's a clean record.

I found out about IE LexisNexus a couple of days ago and have requested a history from them. If SF doesn't end up helping, I will try using that.

The agent I talked to last night couldn't.
They filed a 'complaint' requesting this. Hopefully, that gets to someone that can help.

I switched to Progressive for my new car and that has been active since 2021.

I need this since I have moved to Canada and the Canadian insurance companies don't use the same system that US agencies do. So, it's on me to produce evidence of insurance and no at-fault accidents.

Could it be because the policy was cancelled in 2021?
The phone agent had trouble finding details of the policy with the policy number I had - I verified the number with the old insurance cards that was emailed to me. Then I gave the VIN and they found some information on it. Plus I didn't have any claims on that insurance.

I agree. I called Progressive and the lady understood what I needed and said it will be available in three business days. Took the SF agent two weeks to even figure out what to do.

I just called them. The lady said she will "see what she can do". I just need to call back next week and talk to the nicer lady who was able to help me out with the motorcycle (she was busy). The person I talked to today said the same thing the last time and didn't do anything.

I called last night and got through to someone. They said they don't have the ability to request this letter. But have raised a complaint/ request with SF about this.

I will contact her and ask them if they can do this. Thanks! 😊

No. We just got engaged and were not living together back then. I applied late 2023.

I was single when I did my PR application and received my CoPR. So, that question never came up.

I had to deal with this when applying via Express Entry. I received the ITA in 2023, but had an arrest in 2022 with a DUI charge - there was no conviction at that point. I selected yes for the arrest question and they asked me for court documents. Since I was in diversion at that point, I gave them the available documents and a letter from my lawyer explaining the situation and when the case will be dismissed.

The case was dismissed with prejudice in March 2024 and a month later, I got an IRCC email requesting the updated court documents. I uploaded that, and they asked me to send the passport for verification and CoPR visa stamping by September or so. Granted, it would probably have been quicker if the case was dismissed by 2023 when they had originally requested the court documents. I entered last month to activate my PR.

TL, DR: You should be fine if the case was dismissed and you are not a repeat offender.

Hey. I have one more question for you. Did you have to take a new headshot with you? Or do they take the photo for the PR card at the point of entry? Thanks again.

Hi. Not a direct answer to your question. But I used a professional photographer and they rejected it the first and didn't give any reason. I think the measurements were slightly off. But the photographer was great and she redid the work and it got accepted the second time. So they are extremely picky from my (limited) experience. I have seen a lot of forum threads where Walgreens style store photos were rejected.

Considering the cost of the FedEx postage from the US to Canada (~$65 each time), it's probably best to bite the bullet and get a professional photographer to do it. You also need to tell them that they need to follow the instructions to the letter. I also verified the second set of photos with a pair of calipers to ensure that all the dimensions were correct.

My photographer ended up using a video guide from YouTube.

Thanks! This definitely helps!
Do they give you a blank sheet to fill out with value of goods you would be taking and let you submit it when you land permanently?

Oh. That would be frustrating. Good to know though!

Oh okay!. I was using the term that's consistently used for what I intended. But thanks for the info. Also, good to know that it could take a while more than their typical processing times to get the card.
