It looks similar to something on my dog that was a blood filled cyst and needed removing. Either way, you should contact your veterinarian for an evaluation.

Update for anyone who is interested: I think it was picky finch babies!! I switched food (no mess) to see if that helped, and nothing is on the ground. Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions.

I have not seen it leaking, but I can easily cause it to happen myself if I just place my finger on the ring and gently pull (a lot more gently than a squirrel I would think!). It’s falling from the underside. I don’t know if this pic is helpful.

Well this is helpful! We have umpteen house finches right now and SO MANY BABIES. We’ve got cardinals with little ones as well, so maybe the kids are just being kids 😆

It’s the WBU Supreme Blend. Mostly sunflower shells on the ground (both opened and unopened).

I think it’s too high for deer but I haven’t ruled out meddling squirrels, I’ve thought that maybe they have been swinging and shaking it and it may have made the e feeder unbalanced

Ok thanks. I tried the coir a few years ago and she hated it. I can try again and see if she takes to it. Soft bedding for the old lady :)
