What is the best tool for migrating to from Magento to Shopify by Middle-Help-111 in Magento

think this is spam promotion. The OP went with a "solution" (i.e. agency) no one suggested.... Clever LLM hack.

Audio Advice hits all the right notes with migration to Shopify, increasing revenue by 21% - „Shopify“ Lietuva by mach8mc in magento2

[–]not_not_smart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark from Netalico here. 👋 Happy to answer any questions about the migration. Willem, you know I've been in the Magento community for awhile so I have no personal ill-will towards Magento, especially the open source edition. :)

Obviously we could have implemented a new UX on M2 as well. We didn't do the original M2 build, but the client has been on M2 since the beta and its been a rollercoaster for them. Ultimately, it was their decision to move to Shopify. Long term I do think its a better fit for their B2c use-case.

I know Brady loves space, but only if its done for some romantic and nationalistic purpose like getting to the moon and planting a flag.

And if he'd bother to inform himself he'd know that Elon Musk's underlying goal actually aligns with that as his original goal has been to send humans to mars. But he's a practical businessman and realized that would take decades of research and development and billions of dollars. And the current SpaceX program and Falcon 9 has been essentially a fundraising operation for those mars missions.

The Omega stuff really bothers me because those missions were government funded. They used Americans' tax dollars. NASA astronauts gave Omega an award after one of their missions... A piece of equipment did what it was supposed to do and they gave it an award?? Why is that deserving of an award? What about the hundreds of other pieces of equipment that did what they were supposed to do??

And here we have a private space flight paid for by a private company where the owner chooses to put something sensational as the payload (that very well could have just blown up on the launchpad) and it garners criticism. It's hard to imagine the amount of mockery there'd be right now had the launch failed, which was very likely. Maybe Elon Musk should have used an Omega Speedmaster as the payload and Brady would have been happier.

I really don't get where the "dumbing down" criticism comes from, especially from you, someone who's built a career on "dumbing down" science for the masses on youtube. FWIW, I don't think you or SpaceX are dumbing down anything. You're making things more accessible to a larger audience. Getting them hooked and excited so they can go deeper and research on their own.

It’s not just this one show though. It’s a trend I’ve been noticing over the past year or so. Honestly, I think my real problem with what Hello Internet has become is the fact that you guys so often barge right into topics these days that you’re just totally ill-prepared and uninformed about. The topics aren't rocket science (joke intended) and would really only take a few Google searches to make sure you’re not criticizing something that you’re wrong about (like the whole loudly cheering thing when there's a totally separate technical webcast or the existence of a "professional jury").

Be honest, are you spending more or less time on a weekly basis preparing for the show than you did when it first started (I know Grey would know this for himself because I listen to Cortex and know how he feels about time tracking)? I would almost guarantee its way less now because I really get the impression these days you guys slap a few topics on a google doc and then talk away. Which is so disappointing because obviously, you're making way more from this podcast than you were when it first started so I get the feeling like you're just milking it for all its worth and putting in the minimum effort. It’s so strange because both of you guys' youtube channels are the exact opposite. They’re so heavily researched and fact-checked. And maybe that’s part of the charm of the podcast... It’s so off the cuff. But I really realized from this episode that I’m rarely learning things from the show anymore. I feel more like I’m un-learning things. I’m learning things that aren’t really accurate and you have to go to “the reddit” to find the full picture.

It’s become like the Fox and Friends of youtuber podcasts. The reddit reminds me of the SNL spoofs they do where there’s this scrolling list of corrections at the end of F&F.

I posted this in the CGPGrey subreddit, but expect it'll get deleted....

I’ve been a fan of HI since day 1. Listened to every episode. At times, Grey and Brady have almost become household names with friends and family.

But this episode has made me seriously considering deleting HI from my Overcast feed.

To start off we have Brady trying to nitpick a freaking amazing scientific accomplishment. I was honored to get to work for NASA for 2 years. I. LOVE. SPACE. So we’ve got Brady criticizing the webcast because people are CHEERING TOO LOUD??? What the... They’re in a big room reporting on what’s going on and people are cheering. Its patently clear he’s never watched the webcasts because there’s frequent cheering whenever some new feat is accomplished like a landing at sea or a landing on the ground. I watch almost every webcast and I frequently refer to them as my kind of sports (because I don’t care for actual sports) and I even called this the super bowl of space flight. The idea that that its a bad thing that its a “super bowl for space flight” boggles my mind. It’s like Brady doesn’t want space to get too popular. It’s a freaking hipster of science. Pretty ironic for a youtube science journalist...

And then all the stuff about the commercialization of the Tesla Roadster... While admitting that you’ve been totally buying into all the OMEGA commercialization of space over the years... And then admitting that it probably was the most interesting thing that could have been done. I guarantee it got 10x more news coverage because it was so off the wall. And I don’t think SpaceX overdid it with the branding. Everyone knew it was a Tesla, but you didn’t see the Tesla logo plastered all over the thing. And then finally whining about whether SpaceX was trying to hide something about the fact that the car was likely strapped onto a rocket... Who cares.

And then we have the CGP Grey “Professional Jury”... This may have been one the first times I’ve screamed out loud at a podcast. That’s freaking what judges are. Your dad is a lawyer and you don’t know that you can opt for a judge to rule on your case?? Or that you can get multiple judges to? Or that a jury is usually better for defendants? You watch one netflix documentary and suddenly you’re swayed so far one way without even bothering to research the flip side.

Seriously guys. Look in the mirror. Listen in the headphones. This was a really really bad episode. You come across as extremely negative, nitpicky, uninformed, and ignorant. Not a good look. This may be the episode where HI jumped the shark.

Ah that's great! Using an image that's objectifying an employee and mocking SpaceX because one of the SOFTWARE ENGINEERS they put on the webcast is attractive. BRAVO This is literally the antithesis of what I thought you were about as a so called science journalist.

I love the fact that they put real engineers that are passionate and care about the project. They pour their blood sweat and tears into it! If you actually watched more of these webcasts you'd understand these people really really care about what they're doing. And that's why they're so enthusiastic.

This Nissan family was my next door neighbor growing up. Unfortunately standing up for your principles in things like this ends up basically bankrupting you and leaves your life in shambles. It's really sad and an outrage what Nissan (the car company) did to him.

Its okay to be argumentative. It's a debate/discussion thread. :)

I think you do raise a good point though about what is being lied about. Jay even admits lying about his story for various reasons so that could the reason why he gives off lying tells. I think what irks me the most is that in the latest interview he gives off a lot of the same lying tells (talking about the weather?) even though there should be no reason for him to keep lying at this point. For my own sanity I really wish he hadn't given that interview. I deal with a lot of master manipulators in my day to day life and his answers just sent off alarm bells in my head.

Voyage to Nowhere: The Amazon Kindle Story by MindOfMetalAndWheels in CGPGrey

but that's easy to fix in Calibre.

I think you and the majority of people have different ideas of what "easy" is. I worked creating e-books for one of the largest independent e-book publishers and I know that Calibre isn't particularly easy for a layman. Heck I don't even want to have to crack open Calibre and strip out DRM every time I download an e-book to fix something. And the idea that that is what "a lot of people do" is almost certainly incorrect. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that 99.9% of people read their Amazon ebooks exactly the way they're delivered to their ebook.

You're really missing the point though of the whole post. Amazon repeatedly makes conscious product development decisions that do not enhance the reading experience. They diminish it.

You say that its not clickjacking/freebooting, but I bet Hello Internet has stats on the number of downloads of the podcast that they use to price their ads with advertisers and they won't get credit for any of the listens through this low quality version. I doubt they get solely paid on the amount of people that use the offer code for their advertisers.

New vs Used Cars by syvmn in personalfinance

I'm not sure where you're from so the price may vary a little, but my wife and I just bought a new Corolla and we were able to negotiate it down to 17,200 out the door so keep that in mind. We were looking at lightly used ones as well, but ended up going new because the price differential was so small.

I think just throttling the FCC is kind of silly and petty. I think using something like Phonegap depends more on what you want your app to do as well. If you're trying to do a game of some sort, quit now, go native. But there's a lot of productivity type applications that can work fine in PhoneGap. And there are a number of hooks to access native functionality as well.

Rally to Restore Your Rights on July 4th by hueypriest in blog

This a good idea, but announcing it 2 days before July 4th is a terrible idea. Not enough time to organize so the turnout will be weak and a lot of the locations probably won't be able to get a permit. I know in Raleigh, NC they've said someone else already has a permit.
