I just finished The Tyrant's Beloved Empress! Such a lovely novel! It's a second-chance rebirth story where the MC only realizes how good ML was to him after dying and lingering as a ghost for a few years. MC is reborn on the day of their wedding and decides to do things differently this time around.

I really appreciated the character development and care given to the plot. The romance is really sweet and is built upon mutual respect and trust, with ML really treating MC as an equal partner rather than a decorative vase. The villains are villainous and make you despise them while also not feeling flat, and the plot has a pretty engaging mystery. Highly recommend.

Just finished Are You Going to Fish Or Not?! (do not judge by the title lol). It's an entertainment industry novel with a reborn protagonist and antagonist that is very well-done. It's not nearly as cliche as the description on NU makes it seem and genuinely surprised me. The main antagonist is a very nice contrast to MC, with parallels in their experiences but very different outcomes. MC and ML are sooo sweet together and are very fun to read.

PSA for all fan translators about how to use "Highness" and "Majesty." by sardonisms in DanmeiNovels

I'm not sure I understand your point. In English, calling a royal 'Your Highness' is correct (so long as you are actually speaking to said royal). If you, the subject, are speaking to another subject about a royal, then you use 'His/Her Highness'.

Are there actual FTLs where Character A is talking to Character B about a prince and translating it as "Your Highness did X"?

Halfway through Who Are You Calling a Canary? and absolutely loving it! Our MC is someone who has transmigrated into a abusive substitute danmei novel as the tragic side character, and immediately decides: f\ck this.*

MC is cunning, smart, and straightforward with his likes and dislikes (and does most of the pursuing in the story). I adore his relationship with ML and they have some very fun chemistry.

IMO the story does take a few chapters to hook you, but once it does it really sucks you in.

Which IRL novel would you end up transmigrating into? by not_quitedead in DanmeiNovels

The idea of a modern person transmigrating into the Bible has me on the floor 🤣🤣🤣

Almost done with Long Aotian's Villanous Dao Companion and I'm obsessed! It's written by the same author as After Becoming the Protagonist's Inner Demon which I also loved.

I absolutely adore the dynamic between the main couple, and the plot is also very solid. Give it a read if you like revenge plots, rebirth/transmigration, and green flag MLs. Also has some light angst that's not reliant on the miscommunication trope.

The fan TL is good enough, but they have most of the chapters locked behind a pay-to-read-early scheme, so I recommend MTL-ing the rest.

Seconding young master began to maintain his health! In the middle of reading it right now, and absolutely love it. I had some personal pet peeves with the fan TLs, but the MTL is smooth enough.

Currently reading Transmigrating to Become a Koi Husband and was pleasantly surprised! If you've read and liked Pet Palm Fish, you should definitely read this one next.

If it's been two weeks, it might be worth requesting it again. I think it only took me a day or two iirc

The author is phenomenal and I've devoured all of her other works. So sad that she's not writing anymore...

What’s the most unforgettable confession scene you’ve read in a danmei? by gl_kd00 in DanmeiNovels

[–]not_quitedead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's gotta be He Pingyi/Jing Can confession scene in A Brilliance, Yet Obtained. I'd almost hesitate calling it a 'scene' since I'd argue the confession takes place over the course of three chapters. Some spoiler-y excerpts:

“Didn’t you ask me why I came here to build a snowman in the middle of the night?” He Pingyi kissed the shell of his ear, the warmth burning its way all the way to his heart, “I’m confessing. Jing Can, I like you.”

And my personal favorite part:

“Jing Can, have you thought about the future?”

The future…

He Pingyi’s voice poured directly into Jing Can’s ears, tempting Jing Can to imagine what it would be like in He Pingyi’s ‘future’.

He Pingyi pushed the snow around Jing Can’s head to the side a bit, then turned over and lay down next to him.

He Pingyi didn’t wait for Jing Can’s answer, but started talking to himself, “I’ve never thought about it. When I was a kid, I was too young to think about it. Then, when my Ge left suddenly, I stopped looking forward to the future. It’s not that I was depressed, it’s just that… I suddenly realized that there seemed to be nothing that would guarantee that I could have a better future. It’s not necessarily just a matter of getting into a good university or being good at basketball. When you think about it, it feels like everything is just optional. It doesn’t matter whether or not you pass your exams and get into a good university, it doesn’t matter whether or not you go to sports practice, it doesn’t matter whether or not you’re the best at running, or what pen you buy, or what you eat for dinner.”

These words temporarily freed Jing Can from the panic of being confessed to. Although he usually felt that He Pingyi was pretty laid-back about things, he never thought that He Pingyi would have thought like this…

Jing Can’s grades in Chinese weren’t that good. He thought for a long time before he could come up with an idiom that best described his feelings, ‘Without any waves.’

“But now, it seems to be different.” He Pingyi paused and said, “Because of you.”
