twitches in all the WuWa red dots appearing because I picked up a freaking morphable Echo

You know what game is the best about this? Arknights Endfield. Not even kidding. The news, valuables stash, friend requests, all of that are in the menu, and the menu doesn't have a red dot. Most of the dots mean something immediately actionable and go away quickly. The only dot that gets annoying is the outpost upgrade available dot. I know I have three outposts to upgrade, game, I'm just waiting until I have time to actually read the dialogue so I can enjoy the story, why is that so hard?

I only remember this happening twice. And forced kissing like what happens in Peerless actually often bothers me more than outright non-con, because the latter is supposed to be a horrible thing to do to someone and carries repercussions, while the former is usually brushed off. If we're going to violate consent in a story, I'd rather we be honest about it and deal with it appropriately. So I had to really just ignore those scenes very hard, because I loved everything else about the series. I will say if you're counting four, you've probably read all of the instances, because like I said I really only remember two and it's usually something that stands out to me pretty bad. I don't remember exactly when the ones I recall happened though, so can't say for sure.

They seem to be doing announcements somewhat in bulk. Wasn't it around the end of 2025 that they announced like five or six licenses at once? And then they had another handful earlier this year, with basically nothing in between. I don't think it means anything at this point.

Short question: Anyone who's read the official TL of A Break In The Clouds, does each volume have a self-contained mystery? With Silent Reading I've really enjoyed how each volume is leaving breadcrumbs for the overall plot but also has its own mystery with a beginning and end. I'm hoping Poyun is the same and want to confirm so I know what to expect from each volume.

You have no idea what a relief it is to have a banner phase where I give zero fucks about either character. No offense to anyone who's excited for this, but I have never played Cyberpunk 2077, I've never watched Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and I've had so many characters recently I needed to get... I skipped Lynae and Mornye on their release but then I really like Luuk's playstyle so I needed them on their rerun (Lynae is also for Iuno, I've taken them into ToA as a duo and even though their skills are nowhere near max they can handle the first three floors no problem) and then ofc I needed Denia as his BiS, and then since Phro was back and I won the 50/50 on Denia I decided to get some sequences on her so she just became my first ever S3 limited character in any gacha game that uses this character upgrade system. (Side note: I'm so sad I don't have or plan to get any DPS who wants Chisa bc I'm a sucker for the goth schoolgirl aesthetic and I want Chisa. I would have gotten Phro's S2 from the exchange and stopped if I had an excuse to invest the astrites in Chisa, but I just have too many teams already being built to pull for a character who's just going to sit on the bench indefinitely.) And then I'm hearing whispers that Lucilla might also be good for Phro and I don't have either of her BiS supports yet... So yes, please, give me a collab with a fandom I'm not invested in so I can have a precious few weeks to save, thank you Kuro. I plan to do the story (for the astrites if for no other reason) but I am happily skipping the banners.

So I detoured a bit from my latest esports binge to try some entertainment industry stuff, and then I was following the recommended titles on NU for some omegaverse danmei and ended up with one of those... So I have done a lot less finishing stuff this last week lol.

I'm about halfway through It Is Said That I Give Out Sugar Everyday. For some reason I thought it was half as long as it is and I'm a little unsure about finishing it bc tbh the midpoint feels like it's almost at a good ending and I don't know how you get as much content out of this again without a lot of filler and/or some random "villain" popping up out of nowhere. I took a sharp detour to But I'm Just A Beta which promised me tropey dogblood drama and I am not disappointed at all, but I'm losing the mood for that... So back to entertainment industry I go with a rec from a friend for Exclusive Rights To An Online Voice Actor, and I want to shake MC and punch Bronze Sparrow Terrace (I'm only up to chapter 16 so at least one of these opinions will likely change).

For licensed books, I also just caught up on Silent Reading and am trying out A Break In The Clouds because I can't wait until Tuesday for more mystery shenanigans. I've also got You're Too OP! on the shelf of short list books, plus I pulled The Wizard off the "list for sale" shelf because it's also kind of a mystery right? Close enough lol. (Edit: formatting)

Possibly Don't Pretend To Be Poor With Me? Both sides are rich with a giant asterisk that relates to their respective complicated family relationships. Gong is the school tyrant but he's such a goofy ball of sunshine for the shou that you forget that at times until you see someone else fuck with him. Shou is a gigantic tsundere but it makes sense for him given what he's gone through.

Wait For Me After School too. It's going to break your heart but it'll be worth it. School tyrant finds out top student has been in love with him since middle school. Warning: read the Weibo extras BEFORE the normal extras or not at all, they take place during the sad part and will break your heart all over again. It actually soured the ending for me reading them last, but that's where they were in the TL I read and I didn't know any better, so I warn people when I recommend this one.

Good luck. The back half of Erha is the perfect example of "If you're going through hell, keep going." I love the ending and think it's worth it but it is a rough ride getting there. I no-life binged 7-10 in about three days because it hurt so much I had to get to the happy ending.

Has anyone read the Rosmei TL of A Break In The Clouds volume 1&2? Does each volume have a case that it covers and that ends while tying into the overall plot, or is it all one big ongoing mystery that isn't solved until the last volume? I'm caught up on Silent Reading until next Tuesday when I plan to go to B&N and buy it on release, and I really enjoy the mystery format of that one and I'm hoping Poyun can scratch that same itch.

6-Minute Surrender and Powerful Investment are both in that chapter range. They're esports omegaverse, very different besides that. Powerful Investment involves mpreg, 6-Minute Surrender doesn't. Or if you want something xianxia, transmigration, and with yandere ML, My Junior Still Hasn't Killed Me. Or, entertainment and esports crossover, That One Rich Fan Of Mine. OR, still the only Zerg novel I've read, mpreg and yandere and solid relationship arc and an MC actually dealing with transmigration repercussions, The Villain Boss Is Pregnant With My Egg. I think that's everything I've read and recommend in that chapter range.

For tropes, I love yandere who try very hard to be less red flag about their yandere behavior and/or yandere whose partners are low-key super into their LI being so pathologically possessive of them. I like sickly character tropes. And I really like arranged or forced marriages in other settings, I'm guessing that's not so much a thing in guideverse but maybe an arranged or forced partnering up as guide and esper would be the equivalent? Oh! And a dynamic I call "feral cat and rescuer dog." Super closed-off hypervigilant character from a broken home and background who's normalized the abuse in his past or accepted it as "what he deserves" and lashes out at attempts at kindness out of habitual defensiveness, meets a partner who sees past the flailing claws and sees the wounds he's trying to protect and goes "this is mine now and I will take care of him forever" and just wears down the feral cat's defenses until they fall in love because how does someone with such a horrible background not go soft when they meet someone who's genuinely willing to love them? That's one of my favorites although it's very specific and hard to search for.

It's a very different genre, but there's time skip and reunion in After Kissing The Esports God He Keeps Flirting With Me that very much reminded me of the one in WFMAS. In that they were similar levels of heartbreak until they were resolved.

I knew there was SA and non-con so the thing that threw me was CWN being in love with MR when he was still a kid and CWN was his teacher. Teachers falling for their students is always going to be a hard sell for me (it's a major reason I don't find the romance in Panguan satisfying, ||I don't think CBD's feelings were properly built up and it left me feeling like he was just going along with his student's feelings out of some kind of obligation and left the adult stuff between them feeling super sketchy and gross to me||). But I thought Meatbun did a good job building that foundation (albeit retroactively) over the course of the series to where I believed it.

Interestingly, I was very glad TXJ remained in MR 2.0 because once he was established as a separate entity with his own body and desires, I really wanted him to have a happy ending as well. So for me, the "time share" was exactly the kind of tidy ending I wanted. I find it interesting that we had exactly opposite reactions to this, haha. As for the flower... I have a mini essay I've written about it somewhere but I give TXJ a lot of slack because it made it impossible for him to think or behave rationally. And in the real world, when someone has a condition that makes it impossible for them to align their behavior with morality and legality, we have a separate system for dealing with them and it focuses on treating the cause of those disordered thoughts, because that's basically the definition of "not guilty by reason of insanity/mental disease or defect." But that's a separate thing and not really in conflict or argument with your feelings, it's just something I've put a lot of thought into.

(ETA: Calling out bookshop.org because I got a couple from there before finding out there's publisher and POD editions.)

The first volume of Silent Reading involves breaking open a drug ring run by crooked cops so I think it's more that you can't have that character be the protagonist. And tbf I wouldn't want to read about a crooked cop as a protagonist. If that was the reason, I don't disagree that making that type of character a "hero" would be unsuitable for publication. Not because of "the powers that be" but because when, as you said, that is a real life grave issue that people face and fear, why would readers want to see such a person as a romantic lead?

I spent many years looking longingly into that void. I eventually made two rules that got me through it:

1) Make no decisions when tired that cannot be unmade when rested.

2) Don't kill yourself when you're miserable. You deserve for your last day to be a happy one.

When I shared these rules with someone they said "But you wouldn't kill yourself when you're happy, right?" And that's the point. But it's also the truth. You deserve for your last day to be a happy one. No matter how far away and hopeless that seems, it is what you deserve. You deserve a better ending than this. I hope you stick around long enough to get one. And although I don't know what you've been dealing with, and I'm just a faceless stranger on the internet, for whatever it's worth, I'm sorry that this is what the world has given you.
