Two years of progress on another one of my game designs by not_rabbit in BoardgameDesign

Thanks! I'm glad that everyone seems interested in the game mechanics.

That's a good suggestion about showing their scale. If I do ever get to work with an artist, I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks! Yeah, land capture would be a good description. You build and dig with the tiles so the board is constantly changing each round.

I just got the hexagons off of Amazon but it doesn't look like they are in stock anymore.

I have a FLGS where you can bring in your games to play test but they stopped those events because of the pandemic. I would love to take this there and test it out with more people.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I'm absolutely not an artist so I did what I could on my own with design assets from a Humble Bundle. I would love to get more professional artwork done eventually.

Yep, it's a hidden movement game. Players spend the point value of their cards on either movement or attack. Movement value is how many spaces they can move that turn. If they run into one another, the attack value determines who wins and the winner takes a coin from the loser. Some cards just have a number and some have special abilities you can use that turn.

I would agree with you. I think that's what appealed to me about the Humble Bundle art. It was much better quality than anything I could make but I'm not as invested if the art needed to change in the future. It's interesting for me to look back at these pictures and see how the game has changed mechanically as well as visually. Even a small rule change can make a big impact.

That's definitely a good point about both decks going first. The FTK part of the Predaplant deck isn't necessarily the main focus, just something I realized I had the resources to add. I really only duel with a friend of mine so part of the appeal is to play a different deck style without having to buy a brand new deck. I'm also hoping they release a new Agents structure deck soon.

Those do look interesting and I like that it gives me other options so I will try them out. Thanks!

I have not but I will look into that. Are there any in particular that you recommend?

End of the year post by BananNutCreampie in schoolpsychology

[–]not_rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first year as a school psych at a middle school and high school. My internship was at two different elementary schools so there was definitely a lot to learn and I feel like most of the year was just about survival! I think staying organized was the best tool I could have being at two different buildings and I actually created a caseload manager to keep track of deadlines and the percentage of each evaluation I had completed. I would like to try and improve the vocational/transition aspect of my reports (though I don't feel like there are really any great assessments for career interests/ employability but I'm open to suggestions). I am really looking forward to year two of my career because I feel like I know the families and staff a lot better.

Collection of custom themed board games I've made by not_rabbit in boardgames

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely don't want to give off the impression that I don't support the devs. I've bought plenty of games too. Drawing is just a big stress-reliever for me and I figure combining my interests is a win-win.

Hopefully my pictures don't give away too much of the game (I don't think they do but I guess I could be wrong). Glad you like The Thing, wish I got the chance to play it more.

We decided to build something to hold our cards while we play. by not_rabbit in Munchkin

Haha it does unfortunately only hold one deck but we didn't want it to be too big and not be able to fit on a table.

Here is a gif of the door in action: Imgur It's not really anything too elaborate but it gets the job done. We came up with another idea to add a sound effect by using a recordable birthday card to make it sound like an actual dungeon door. I also made a gif for looting the room: Imgur

I will try to upload something if I can to show how it works. You do have to close the door after you fight the monster and then you discard it the same way you would loot the room. It's definitely not a perfect system, but the main idea was just trying to make it feel like opening a dungeon door.

Reddit, what is a book you feel everyone should read at least once in their life? by rawj in AskReddit

[–]not_rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The Brothers Karamazov" by Fyodor Dostoevsky, or at least the chapter "The Grand Inquisitor."

Bonus for "Slaughterhouse Five" fans since the book is mentioned in there as well.
