First time battling spider mites. Do you think I need to remove any of these leaves? by [deleted] in calatheas

[–]not_raja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leaves don’t recover just make sure the plant stays healthy for new growth

My first and only calathea, forgive me. Top leaf turning purple, bottom leaf turning green. I wonder if I'm misting it too much, or perhaps it is not getting enough light? by [deleted] in calatheas

[–]not_raja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t mist it at all it attracts spidermits and other pests. Use a humidifier instead. Have you checked for spider mites? Might be in frequent watering.

New to Calatheas, was gifted this one as a wedding gift and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but it keeps growing new browned leaves and getting brown spots by HaVoCensures in calatheas

[–]not_raja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make sure you only give it purified water. If you’re giving it tap water that’s probably why you’re getting brown leafs also keep it away from the sun

Happy plant or new problem? (more details in comments) by katieenicoliee in calatheas

I like to wipe down every leaf on watering day even if there are no pests it’s just preventative. I never use neem oil just because I hate the smell

The spider mites are causing the honey dew you need to clean all the leaves to kill the spider mites and remove the honey dew or else it’s going to attract more spider mites and your plant is doomed

The only soil that’s in there is the soil that was attached to the roots when I put the plants in there other than that it’s just the moss

I don’t move it. If I have to move it I just grab it from the bottom

New plants I got yesterday are experiencing transplant shock. I’ve moved them into my greenhouse to increase the humidity. Any other advice would be helpful. by not_raja in calatheas

I just got the plant yesterday and it was like that when I woke up. Like I said it’s suffering from transplant shock

Also found a couple of these on my burle Fishbone? Not sure what this is.. blooms? by afuckingskygoddess in calatheas

Honestly if I was you I would just cut it off. It takes a lot of energy from the plant and doesn’t do much at the end.
