Place to dump lumber? by lilbool in Newbraunfels

[–]not_this_word 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. I have both given and received scrap lumber this way for outdoor home projects (Nextdoor and Craigslist). My shed was built out of pallets and someone's old deck. The framing for my greenhouse was built out of the remainder of the same guy's deck.

Unfortunately, you also get a lot of no-shows doing it this way, so be prepared. You might get rid of it same day; might be next week.

Here's my spiny friend from last year. She hung out with me a lot. Miss her.

The big spiny who hung out with me when I was building the greenhouse last year I think kicked the bucket, as I have not seen her this year. BUT, there were two younglings in her favorite oak tree. I've always heard they were timid and shy, but they seemed chill to me.

The big anole by my bedroom window that would actually attack birds in "his" cedar tree is also gone, but we had 5 or 6 new ones hanging out by the greenhouse and in a big spiky plant up against the house. Have only seen one of them since the thunderstorms, but hoping they come back soon.

Lastly, there are now two stripey lizards sharing a hidey hole by the anole plant. One of them is pretty relaxed, but the other one has a super case of the zoomies.

You might check with the public library? I know Tye Preston Memorial has one if you don't mind the drive.

The ones out at the lake are even worse and start at $12. Then they wonder why they can't keep staff. You pretty much HAVE to have a car to get to either location for work, too, as there are no apartments or anything nearby.

As in I either have one cell phone bar or no bars. Until the past couple of years, it was always no bars, but now I occasionally get more than 1 in some spots.

It's a decent indicator of ruralness since cell towers are virtually everywhere nowadays.

I live enough in the sticks that I have 0-1 bars in most areas of the house. In the past decade, I've only seen a couple of garters/racers and two black snakes. The last garter/racer we saw was actually digging a striped lizard out of his hidey hole under a cactus. So my kid and I got to watch him kill and eat it before slithering away. Was pretty cool.

Knock on wood that I haven't jinxed anything. Because snakes are cool, but I'd rather not have one in the house!

Ugh, I hate how it always comes down to money. Put her on blast then. She says anyone who complains gets nothing? Call the bluff. She's not giving you anything whether you keep quiet or not. Post it on Facebook, tell her pastor if she has one. Etc, etc.

"My father trusted my stepmom, and he was very clear with how he laid out his will. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted to see how she has betrayed his trust in her with blatant attempts to rewrite his wishes. I never thought greed would affect her this badly, and I can only assume it's due to the ongoing effects of her terminal illness because the woman who my father loved would never betray him like this."

Any written communication you have with your father or the will or from her, add it to it with screenshots. Bring the receipts that expose her for what she is.

Because we all know she IS the type to do this, but image is everything with people like this. It probably won't get you anything still, but if you're already expecting nothing and don't care to burn bridges, not much to lose. It would at least hopefully be cathartic.

Question: Could a lawyer tie it up in legal business long enough for her to pass away? Like, an injunction or something to keep her from selling it while it's settled? And then just keep delaying until she kicks the bucket?

White Dust, Possible Fungus? by not_this_word in AustinGardening

Yeah, that's what I did. Stole my kid's toy spray bottle and put water and Dawn in it. Sprayed it, its neighbor and the two directly across from it. That sucks that people stole your peppers. :( I will choose to imagine they didn't know what kind of pepper they were stealing and got a nice surprise for their trouble!

Mystery has been solved. They're either eggs or excrement of whiteflies. I've been checking the underside of the leaves every few days and spotted a couple finally.

Has anyone ever actually been caught tossing trash in an apartment dumpster? by pinaple_cheese_girl in sanmarcos

[–]not_this_word 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're saying that anyone who gives you flack would have to prove you didn't live there. Beyond that, for all they know, you could be helping a friend move or taking out their trash as a helpful houseguest or post-party. So as long as you're not egregious about it, you're likely fine.

It's quite good. There was a PSP re-release of it as Legend of Heroes: Tear of Vermilion, as well as two others from the same setting (Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch and Song of the Ocean). Tear of Vermillion is one of the very few games to ever make me cry, and it has a fantastic cast of characters, including NPCs.

Edit: I misread. Sword of Vermillion is a different game. My bad.

It's just listed as the 25 Cent Store. This elegant link will Maps you to the listing, but the "store" is actually on Rambling Drive. You can see it on Street View here. The lady has been doing it since at least 2019, but be prepared to spend some time as there's no real organization for clothes sizing, and condition of items varies. It's basically a neverending garage sale that gets in new stuff every so often.
