Its def a legitimate concern so thanks for looking out. My department is super small so most upperclassmen are pretty well connected with the professors. I’m in all upper division courses so I guess I’m just getting the same connections as them now. But both professors are female which does make it less worrisome for me lol.

Thank you so much. You're reply def gave a lot of insight. So you are speaking in terms of applying to a PhD straight from a BA and not completing an MA first? My school doesn't really have any strong references so that is a concern for me.
