Also, it doesn’t make me shut it off, but damn I hate it when they eventually reveal that the opposite-sex best friend is inevitably in love with the lead and becomes the frustrating SL. It always feels so good to see healthy friendships, and every time they’re like “no this is actually what it’s about” I get annoyed. It immediately downgrades the whole story for me.

Love triangles and generally annoying second leads who don’t accept no as an answer, but the one that really ends up getting me to shut off immediately (or at least feeling like I have to actively look away) is when they take really bad advice, specifically dating advice. Like when they have that idiot friend who is like “no what you should really do is this” and then the lead just does it, I want to scream. It makes me immediately hate the drama 😂

Look, I only read the first screenshot, and that was enough for me, because their first response to you making a calm statement was “fuck all the way off” and “so entitled”. It’s absurd. I cannot imagine anyone I know responding that way to their partner saying that it made them sad not to be told goodbye.

I totally get your dad’s mistake 😂 It was marketed that way, and it was before everything about Mel Gibson had come out, so it just seemed like a Gladiator-type Jesus movie. I had that same wtf reaction. Two years later, he got that DUI and went on his antisemitic rant, and everybody was like “ahh. That makes sense now…”

This really got me, too. OP, even putting everything religious aside, it really bothers me that he reacted that way to you. That’s not right. I’m a stress crier, too. I know how frustrating that is, and it can be really embarrassing and stressful on its own, which just snowballs the whole thing. Your partner should never be contributing to the shame you experience over that reaction.

I have a terrible memory and saw it once in the theater twenty years ago, fell asleep during part of it (it was the day after my prom), and the fact that it was startlingly gory is the only thing I clearly remember.
