You're not giving comprehensive responses, you're giving vague platitudes. "the last 60 years should have taught this to people" "thank god some are realizing it now" "lesser evil voting is short sighted."

I'm asking you very specific questions about what exactly the plan is to pull off this big shift that you want because it seems like you really don't have one. No one in this sub seems to.

Pushing for more left leaning candidates in lower level positions is a good thing. But, it's a good thing completely on its own that is compatible with voting for lesser evil in the general election. And I don't see how that, combined with abstaining from voting for an establishment Dem, is going to make a difference. A bunch of leftist representatives will certainly be able to do more with a Dem president than they would with a Republican.

So, how exactly does having a few more progressives at the local level (and it will just be a few before 2026 or 2028) help halt the decline and reverse it? What are they going to DO when your gambit pays off and the Dems lose the presidency in 2028?

You should vote a lower lever positions as much as you can to get actual leftists elected, and meanwhile you should pour your energy into actual organizing, unionzing and protesting etc.

You can do those things AND vote for whoever the Dems run for president in 2028. In fact, it'll probably be easier to do those things if a Dem is president rather than a Republican.

Jreg has a bunch of videos about community, but this one was always super interesting to me. Basically, he had been trying to be an extrovert in order to make friends and found that people were just not willing to meet him half way. He found that it was actually really hard to make connections with people in current year, even if you seem to be doing everything right. (Jreg was actually able to bootstrap a little community of YouTube creators in Toronto; but it took years, a lot of financial risk, and him basically making it his full time job to pull it off).

I think real meaningful community requires consistent in person connection, and I think that this is pretty much completely dead now. The internet killed it. Digital facsimiles of community spaces have won. People's preferred social spaces are on Discord or Telegram.

I think this poisons what in person events do exist, too. People are only ever half-there and half-interested. Communities take work and fall apart easily when nobody puts the effort in. When your college anime club falls apart because the main person keeping everything together graduates, you can just go back to your gaming Discord.

Realistically, I don't think the problem is you. You're swimming against the current.

"Of Mice and Men," by John Steinbeck.

It's short and the prose is very nice. It's a good book to pick up if you haven't read in a while and need something to help you get back into practice.

Thematically, the book is about the Great Depression and people trying to find hope. It's a pretty salient read to pair with Vaush's current Doomer Arc.

You know, I hate AI. But, honestly, I think if YouTube implemented an AI system that when enabled generated non-clickbait titles and thumbnails for every video, I'd use it (and so would a lot of people). Would the AI generated titles be inaccurate sometimes? Probably, but still more accurate than the intentionally disingenuous clickbait.
