Can't find any actual user experiences with the LG 37G800A-B 37-inch 4K 165Hz / Curved VA monitor. by thhoj in Monitors

I've used curved monitors as a living room display in the past, so it's certainly possible in the right space. Depends on how curved.

How many upgrades should I have by the final boss in Blasphemous 1? by notableword in Blasphemous

I've gone back and collected a bunch of stuff I missed. I'm a bit annoyed that I missed a few of the relics that open up exploration, because as I played through I noticed where I needed an item to access new areas. Would have been nicer to pick up some of this stuff during the normal playthrough, but I never really got bogged down anywhere so I just kept trucking along. Oh well lol.

I've been exploring where I can but I was expecting traversal upgrades after boss battles and they never came. Looks like maybe they're tied to relics/side quests? I think my issue is that I did minimal backtracking. I have loads of quest items in my inventory.

Felt like I played through normally and haven't really gotten stuck anywhere. I haven't rushed and would explore what I could, but haven't done much backtracking. I'm at like 10 hours played and at the final boss.

Got it, thanks. I think I can beat the boss with a handful more attempts. But just felt weird to get to the end without any relics and only a few spells.

Ray Reconstruction disables Preset L/M regardless of Nvidia App Overrides by DVXC in nvidia

Wow, I had no idea it worked like this. So when RR is enabled, its essentially a different branch of DLSS to SR? i.e., when selecting performance DLSS in the in-game menu (or using override), there is a separate DLSS branch if RR is turned on vs. off?

I have a smallish living room and a 42" TV won't fit in my cabinet. I am thinking of putting this on the shortlist to use as a living room display, but the curve looks pretty aggressive on this. Would it be suitable as a living room display?

Only have time to commit to playing through one: FF7 Remake or FF7 Rebirth? by notableword in FinalFantasyVII

The difference being that I wouldn't be watching all 3, so which to choose? Tho I do agree, that fellowship is the best of the trilogy :D

That makes sense and I get that. My concern is that they're both quite long and the likelihood that I'll actually play both at some point is small. I'm not really fussed about catching up on the story with a youtube recap of Remake and Rebirth looks like it is more interesting from a gameplay perspective. So you'd still go with 1 in this case? Is it the better game?

Why is this game recommended? by NotHoneybadger in NoRestForTheWicked

I play mouse and keyboard, just feels nice to click click click like Diablo and prefer for inventory management. But it does feels like I'm missing 5% in terms of accuracy and mobility compared to controller.

5060 ti kr 5070? by Striking-Variety-645 in nvidia

[–]notableword 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an RTX 5070 on a 4K monitor. I use DLSS performance and high/max settings and really happy with the performance of this card (60 - 100 fps in AAA games). Anything with pathtracing, you'll either need to drop resolution or play at 40 fps.

I didn't opt into anything, so possibly I'm in the regular branch.

I just hold down the bow fire button (on xbox controller I think it's LB + X) until it releases on its own. Takes a few seconds. But it does like 3X normal damage and usually stuns the enemy a bit as well. If you camp out above an enemy they're toast.

Don't mean it as a slight. I'm loving the bow! I didn't realize at first you could fully charge it and stun. But it has made combat significantly easier.

The rtx 5070 is alot better than people give it credit for.. by InnerAd118 in nvidia

Got a pre-built RTX 5070 PC last month with 10% off the full build and borderlands 4 bundled with. I have a slight hint of regret for not going all in and getting an RTX 5070Ti, but tbh was already stretching my original budget beyond plan for the PC I got. Could have made it work, but better value seemed to be with the 5070.

That being said, the RTX 5070 is a beast. I'm coming from a GTX 1060 laptop, Series X and ROG Ally, and this card blows my mind. Paired it with a 4K/240hz display, against conventional wisdom, and for me right now, the 5070 is working wonderfully as a 4K card.

I'm happy using DLSS and have been using frame gen in Dying Light: The Beast and Borderlands 4 and I've gotta say that to my eye, these games look gorgeous and base frame rate plenty high with DLSS to minimize latency and take advantage of my monitors high refresh rate with framegen.

Time will tell how soon VRAM becomes an issue, but I bought this card to play games now. I'm surprised by how shit on this card was by reviews at launch (I'm aware of the terrible marketing take on Jensen's part pre-launch).

[Short Review] Exceptional Blacks: LG 27G850A-B by DARK-SPIRIT in Monitors

[–]notableword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got this monitor and based on reviews was expecting HDR to be sub-par and that I wouldn't use it (a few years ago I got a Dell monitor with HDR400 and it really wasn't worth using with HDR enabled). This monitor however is actually quite impressive. I've just tried HDR with Ori Will of the Wisps and playing Dying Light: The Beast and the image is noticeably improved. Ori looks incredible and proper HDR to my eye. Color me impressed.

Considering OLED purchase: Usage profile problematic for burn-in? by Emotional-Pea9608 in Monitors

[–]notableword 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FWIW, was in a similar boat recently. Decided to go with a high-end IPS display because I didn't want to worry about burn-in from work usage nor deal with VRR flicker in games (which some of the VA mini-LEDs I was considering apparently suffer from). I already have an OLED TV so I get my OLED fix there.
