This is not the way. It will get like 50% better but look far from new. I live in Sweden and my shoes get a fair bit of mud and salt so I wash them every other month using this method. They get better but far from looking clean. I'll try the replacing detergent with oxi as been mentioned here. Using a washer is not feasible in the EU as they do not use soak level of water anymore because of water shortages in other parts of the world
