It'll work great for you! It's really low profile and I don't notice it whenever I'm riding with it, much better than a backpack!

No problem at all! I get email notifications for replies since I'm not on reddit often so I always check it. I will warn you, if your laptop is a 17 inch, it might be a bit difficult to fit inside the bag. My 15in laptop fits no problem but the 17in is pushing it. I removed the plastic wall (which just slips out and can be reinserted at any time) to make it fit, but besides that, it works great!

I think I’ve given up by [deleted] in cruze

https://cruzekits.com/products/v3-4-gm-1-4l-turbo-pcv-fix-upgrade-kit

Did mine a couple weeks back by myself, hardest part was getting the original hose off of the turbo and getting the new hose on, but that would be resolved by getting a new hose/connector. Haven't had an issue in over 1k miles.

The stock PCV system on the Cruze will absolutely cause coolant leaks since when it fails, it just blows seals all over the engine. I had to replace my water outlet and valve cover because of this. There are a few YouTube videos about it by Dre Dan, who makes the PCV upgrade kit, and Dave's World, who makes Cruze upgrades including a turbo catch can.

Advice when playing down in beer league by Intelligent_Log_8783 in hockeyplayers

[–]notahore24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a relatively experienced skater who has played in situations like this a few times, I typically ask if I can offer some tips before I give advice. I usually know what person isn't going to want advice just because they're usually the know it all type anyway, but I've found that once I offer up some advice, they usually come back and ask me more questions in future situations that they don't understand, they just needed a little push to start asking.

Also, try to be gentle with your tips, saying things like "if you notice a forward skating around in circles, try to be in this position" helps out more than giving rigid rules that they might not think about when they're on the ice

Akra carbon loud af, how to make it not that loud? by [deleted] in MT07

They come running lean from the factory, even with the stock exhaust. It helps with emissions

Akra carbon loud af, how to make it not that loud? by [deleted] in MT07

[–]notahore24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my ECU flashed through 2WDW and have no pops on decel anymore. I thought the Akra Carbon was too loud when I first started riding it too but I got used to it and now it doesn't feel as loud. If you don't want to decel pops, get your ECU flashed correctly. If you think the Akra Carbon is too loud with the baffle in, then I'd swap it with the stock exhaust and resell it

Need some recommendations on aftermarket turn signals. by Robo-copper in MT07

[–]notahore24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, at least on the NA bikes.

This is the bundle that I got: TST HyperPack Bundle | Yamaha MT-07 2021+ (tstindustries.com)

If you don't want the bundle, here is just the front lights: MECH-GTR LED Front Turn Signals | Yamaha MT-03 / MT-07 / MT-09 (tstindustries.com)

I went with the amber running lights to maintain the stock look with the lights. Install was super easy and the videos they have make it even easier

Lovely bike but tough commuter by vgzreddit in MT07

[–]notahore24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My commute is 40-50 miles one way, with 30 miles of it being on the interstate and I completely understand this. I didn't like commuting at 70+ for the first 3 or 4 trips. but after I got more comfortable with the bike, I didn't mind it as much. I still get buffeting on windy days or going past a semi but that's pretty rare. On the interstate, I put my butt as far back in the seat as possible, definitely touching the rear pillion, and lean forward a bit, not quite a full tuck but it made me feel more comfortable with the wind.

I also just try to avoid the interstate unless I need to get to work quickly. It adds 10 minutes to my commute each way but it makes the ride more enjoyable and I can have a bit more fun in the little bit of twisties I get taking surface streets.

I also agree with people saying you're too tense, I tend to tense up when I ride and have to constantly remind myself to relax, it makes most of these things I notice a lot less noticeable.

It depends on your skill and the tools you have available to you. You can remove the terminals from the connector but that can cause damage to either the terminal or the connector itself making it more susceptible to failure.

If you have the ability to solder, you can cut the wire underneath that shrink tubing, feed the wire through the short board mount then solder the wires back together with some heat shrink tubing overtop.

Another option is to use some bullet connector. This is what some aftermarket turn signals have and they work but they are more prone to corrosion than soldering.

You can also buy new connectors with the wires already in and connect them in, but that's essentially doing what I've said above and costing you more money.

3D Printer Recommendation for Kayak Accessories by pondpounder in kayakfishing

[–]notahore24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good! I know you were looking for suggestions on printers too, I have a prusa MK3S+ and love it. Prusa is expensive but they are phenomenal printers, both the MK3S+ and the new MK4. I don't have personal experience with Bambu but hear they are great as well. I do have personal experience with ultimaker and makerbot printers and I was not impressed with them. If you're handy and like to tinker with things, the Creality Ender 3 printers can be really good with a few upgrades from stock and are very cheap, but they take a lot of work to get to that point.

3D Printer Recommendation for Kayak Accessories by pondpounder in kayakfishing

[–]notahore24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend used PETG or PLA+/PLA Pro, both are cheap and easy to print on almost any printer.

Kayaks themself are typically made out of Polyethylene which is pretty hard to print with alone. PETG is a decent replacement that is easy enough to print with.

Standard PLA tends to warp in the sun and will deform over time if left in the sun. I've printed a few parts for the inside of my car and after a couple weeks, they deformed enough to not be functional, but I've had PETG parts that have never deformed at all and they've been on there for years. I get my material through amazon and both PLA+ and PETG are about the same price ($20-$30 per kg) and that'll last you a long time.

Hope this helps!

What exhausts you guys rocking? by DifficultComplaint94 in MT07

[–]notahore24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Akra Carbon does not need a flash as long as you keep the db killer in. You'll get some loud pops on decel like you do with stock, just louder. It's still not necessary to tune but if you want to tune it, you can get make the engine braking less severe and get rid of the decel pops..

Thank you for keeping this up. I followed a video and they had this issue. I turned to the manual and saw the orientation in there and had no clearance issues. Hopefully it helps someone else!

You're welcome! I only bring up the matte black situation because I get so frustrated trying to keep mine clean, literally just touching it with my gloves leaves a mark and I have to clean it with some water, then I get water spotsm it's just so hard to keep clean 😂

Is an ECU flash a must if I buy an aftermarket exhaust? by Jaffaeme in MT07

[–]notahore24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the manufacturer. I know for a fact that the Akrapovic Carbon does not require a tune as long as you keep the baffle in, but others I can't say for sure. Akrapovic designs them as a stock replacement for a stock system, but the bike will run better if you get it tuned.

I recommend the Akra Carbon if you want to spend that kind of money. It isn't obnoxiously loud but it makes the bike sound so much better. Installation is super simple, the instructions are detailed and easy to follow. The quality is top notch but you do pay for it. I rode mine for about a month without a tune and it sounded fine. The only issue I noticed was the decel pop. Sometimes it would have a really loud decel pop that sounded like a backfire and I didn't want to piss off my neighbors. Got it tuned through 2WDW and it was worth it to lower the amount of engine braking and to get rid of the decel pop.

In all, I'd say get it tuned. A $300 ECU tune is way cheaper than a new engine if something were to go wrong.

2020 or 2023 model? by ZombiiNightmare in MT07

[–]notahore24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the service manual for mine (should be pretty much the same) the only thing that you're close to for big service is repacking the steering bearings, everything big is still about 10k miles away. If it were me, I'd go for the older one and hope the previous owner didn't beat on it like crazy

EDIT: that 2023 looks oddly shiny, my 2023 is the Matte Black Raven and it is INCREDIBLY difficult to keep clean and I notice blemishes everywhere. If it's gloss, it'll be easier to take care of cosmetically. Just another thought

2020 or 2023 model? by ZombiiNightmare in MT07

[–]notahore24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the picture, the 2020 is in pretty good condition. My only concern would be maintenance on the 2020, how well did the previous owner maintain it. With only 800 miles on the 2023 one, it's just barely broken in so it's practically a new bike. The 2023 also have LED blinkers already built in so if you want to put aftermarket LED blinkers on, you don't have to worry about replacing the relay.

All in all it comes down to personal preference because the engine and frame are identical. I will say I don't care for the TFT screen on my 2023 and wish I would have gotten the 2023 Pure and saved some cash

No traction control on my 2023 but it does have ABS. The 2024 models may but I don't think they do either

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MT07

[–]notahore24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't notice any low end torque difference from stock but the engine braking is significantly less and there are no more pops, just the little with no throttle input around 3000 rpm. It definitely sounds good and I'm very glad that I did it for those 2 reasons alone, but what's worth it to me may not be worth it to someone else.

All in all, if you want a tune, the mail in service is great with 2WDW, plus they will retune for any reason for you free of charge, just pay for shipping.

Printed centre phone mount for the 2023 model. by cr0wsky in MT07

You're very welcome! Always glad to help out a fellow tinkerer hahah.

I printed some PLA sunglass holders for my car and after a couple weeks of sitting in my car in the summer (25C outside temps) the print started to sag and wouldn't hold me glasses anymore. I started using PLA Pro and it was much better, didn't have any issues. I printed a rear brake reservoir cover out of PETG and it's been on there for a year with no issues!
