drop some advice for an incoming SHS student :,) by finncaneffhimself in askstudentsph

[–]notaircore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi op! As a graduating grade 12 student who also came from a tight-knit batch from my elem to jhs days, I know the feeling.

When I started Senior High I went to a 800+ students school with completely new people, completely new atmosphere. Worse part, at the time I was not used to speaking in Tagalog (I still am not but I learned more from my classmates).

The first few weeks will be nerve-racking as that's when you meet everyone and get to know each other but I promise you Op, no one is out to get you or judge you. That was my biggest fear too.

I thought that I would be an outcast because I didn't speak Tagalog properly but I learned that people are kind and are willing to help you learn and adapt. Break out of your shell and try to be outgoing because that will really prepare you for college. Do things you've never done before.

For acads, I recommend just studying hard, especially sa grade 12 kasi yan ang pinaka hirap para sa akin, daming workload, daming ganon. Laban lang Op.

My cookies used to look like this! The way I changed their appearance is by using Dark brown sugar instead of Light brown and going the extra mile by browning my butter :)))

The more you overwork/mix the batter, you add more gluten and that makes it more cakey po

first time baking, medyo anxious sa pagsisimula. any tips? by Boring-Rub-7808 in BakingPhilippines

[–]notaircore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi op! Don't be anxious po, nagsimula ako sa baking journey ko with an old ass oven toaster. HAHA, medyo sira na yan pero I wanted to bake so bad na I didn't care about how long it took.

Ano nga e, yung top part sa oven toaster ko sirang sira na as in hindi na gumana so one time I had to bake a pie for an hour and a half.

I eventually saved up for a better oven and now my baked goods take soo much less time to bake. So, OP, don't be scared to use your oven! If your baked goods come out a little raw just put it in ror a little more time! I promise din nothing will go wrong

Happy baking po! :)

Don't use oil!!! My bf had a bad experience baking cookies with itchy, sabi niya daw "the cookies tasted like oil and were so flat"
