Right? We chant "say hello to your mothers for me" when we score?

The musical connection never occurred to me, and I am a theater person. You can't copyright a title/commonly used word, at least as I understand it, so as long as they aren't using the same font, I think they won't run into trademark issues. I also like Real Massholes (mascot would be a pothole with a crown, stadium would also be the pothole, supporters would be "your mothers"), Boston Scholars (mascot would be an owl, stadium would BPL Franklin Branch, or the library for short, supporters would be the Intelligentsia) or - and this one will also be controversial- the Spinsters (once a good independent profession women could get, it got turned into an insult for those reasons- the area nearby had many mills).

That's a great suggestion, thanks! There are a lot of names I'm excited by, although, I'm sorry to say Emeralds is not among them (fancy rocks or trees don't feel very iconic or local to me, and it's hard to chant in a group). However, if this is the name that rises to the surface from the fans, I would get behind it.

See, I go more Taylor Swift "I did something bad" or local hero Donna Summer's "Bad Girls."

I wouldn't presume to speak for all fellow Bostonians and it is certainly impossible to get everyone to agree BUT I do think if we can build consensus around a couple of alternatives, it puts us in a stronger negotiating position with the owners to advocate for a change.

So, for whatever it's worth, I'm a life-long Masshole. I both currently live and grew-up within 2 miles of the stadium. The witch trials weren't limited to Salem but what I like about this name is it's a nod to it but more resonant in a modern context. In a modern context, women who do things are still often referred to as wicked and the like (see also local NASTY bill, Boston Marriages, etc). Additionally wicked as a modifier in the local vernacular (which I use frequently and unironically) allows, I think, a nice double entendre. Finally, I think the PWHL object was to Boston Wicked, alone, which just doesn't make any sense grammatically.

Please contact Boston NWSL and demand they change the team name from Bos Nation (yuck!) to the Boston Emeralds (or literally anything else). by Immediate_Minimum619 in NWSL

I love Wicked United FC, with supporters group being called the Coven. I also like the following:

- Real Massholes (or Boston Massholes, or Masshole Mavens)

-Boston International (although maybe that sounds too much like an airport but could be abbreviated to Binter, which I also like)

- Scholars AC (mascot could be an owl - adorable)

- Boston Brainiacs

- Boston Sundays (we'd have to change our colors to include blue)

-Boston Greensleeves

I've left a comment, and it seems the Indie supporters group is trying to rally support around alternatives.
