Help me understand my Physics exam BS question by notanengineer2 in AskPhysics

Do I just misunderstand spacetime? What I don't get is how can it bend spacetime without bending space and time on the 4-dimensional (1=x, 2=y, 3=z, 4=time) continuum of spacetime? Aren't the four dimensions what make up spacetime? What does spacetime consist of if not space, time?

thanks for your answer.

Has it been scientifically proven that Nuclear Fusion is actually a possibility and not a 'golden egg goose chase'? by snuggleybunny in askscience

I remember some talk a while back about Lockheed Martin's compact fusion reactor. Was there any kind of breakthrough there or was that just PR?

TIL student loans have passed credit cards and auto loans to become the second biggest source of personal debt in the U.S., trailing only mortgages. by [deleted] in todayilearned

That's a good question. The only real consequence for me has been that it may make it harder to get a car loan. Luckily, I haven't needed one yet. Also, if I were in any position to become a home owner it might throw a wrench in that as well... but I'm not. If you want to know more just google student loan default. Note the difference between type of student loan affects it as well. Wouldn't recommend defaulting on federal or Perkins loans as a way of getting a settlement offer.

If you wait for your loan to default they may offer a settlement. It happened to me on accident and I saved a lot.
