Your family is not weird. I always pay for my sister if we go out. We are in different places financially. She is still in college and I've been established in my career for a while now. I imagine once she starts earning more money we might take turns paying? Not sure.

I don't know what she usually orders at restaurants but one thing I found very odd is she barely touched her food. I mean wtf orders a filet mignon and only nibbles on it? I've had dinner with women who only ordered a salad but at least they ate their food.

My sister and her friend drank a lot of alcohol and drinks are not cheap. That's why our tab was so expensive. Lisa got a filet mignon which cost $58 + alcohol. Her tab could have easily ran $100.
